A happy, healthy New Year to all and my thanks to all on this forum, especially the mods, for making this such a friendly place to be. I wonder what 2015 will bring in the vaping world, but I'm sure you guys and gals will tell me when it happens lol.

Well from smoking 40 a day for 37 years the transition to vaping was a bit stop and start. I tried a cigalike kit first, bought from a car boot sale. It was early morning cold and there was a woman and a man sitting in a black tent vaping and it looked wonderful, just like smoking I thought. They offered me one to try (obviously fully charged with a new cartridge) and I was sold. Having got it home and determined to give it a go, at last to be free from the stickies off I went. It wasn't long before the charge on the battery dropped and the cartridge depleted so charged it up again but only really worked for the first puff or two, cartridges were either dry or leaked, so off it went in a drawer and sat there and I continued smoking.

A year or so later I got an e-mail with a 'special offer' from Skycig so thought I would give it a try. It was a step up from the first one but similar problems, having invested quite a bit on different cartridges I did not want to give up and at that point I FOUND THIS FORUM. Totally confused about the terminology and feeling a bit inadequate about asking questions I read up all I could and tried out various different clearos on an ego without much success. Then the dreaded vaper's toungue set in - I swear it was the Bud clearomisers I was using at the time, you had to suck so hard I think it just killed my sense of taste. I contacted a vendor at the time regarding my problems and I remember sending him an e-mail along the lines of, does it really need to be this difficult, batteries that don't hold a charge, leaking clearomisers, needles, syringes, boxes and boxes of tissues, finding an Eliquid you like..... Smoking was never this difficult, light it up and off you go. He replied, please don't give up you will get there.

So I didn't, at this point I had pretty much stopped smoking taking only the occasional drag of my partner's cigs and thinking, god that is horrible.  Next I found Jason (Vapeescape) and my real vaping journey began. 2 ego twist batteries and I think vision clearos. The twists were a god send at last something with some power. 

From there onwards and upwards and haven't even had a puff of a stinkie for nearly two and a half years. On the odd occasion I get a whiff of smoke and think hmmm that smells nice but then I remember the horrible taste and in an instant the thought has gone. If any of you have read Alan Carr's How to stop smoking book- I blame it on the little green monster.

My advice to anyone new to vaping is to start with a decent starter kit with variable voltage and don't give in. It is sometimes easier to pick up a real cig but once you fing a setup to suit you it will be fine and hopefully you will never look back. Thankfully vaping has advanced in leaps and bounds since I started so the right options will be out there.
