OK, so that was a rash promise.
BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO DIY MIXING ZERO NICOTINE E JUICEBuy your stuffA good purchasing policy is to go look at Liberty Flights, decide what you want, and then see if you can get it elsewhere cheaper.
Buy e.g. five 30ml bottles, a 10ml syringe, a 2ml syringe, and a couple of 14 gauge needles (with needles bigger number = smaller diameter needle ???)
www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=26 or similar.
Buy some PG unless you prefer pure VG. Bigger bottles are cheaper, but it isn't too expensive anyway.
www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=55 or
www.cig-eliquid.co.uk/DIY_MIXING_250ml_PG_liquid_propylene_glycol/p649230_2911767.aspxBuy some VG from the same place or from Tecos (Dr Oetker, about 65p for 38ml)
Buy your flavouring. May be start with
www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=112 We're using lemon menthol as an example here, otherwise I'd say try
www.cupcake-world.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=144&products_id=1480 at half the price, but cupcake world lime and orange have been known to damage clearos, so I wouldn't trust their lemon.
You could buy menthol flavour from the same place, but cheaper to make it:
DIY menthol e-liquid
Get menthol crystals from Boots (if you tell them what it is for they may refuse to sell it to you ). A small pot costs about £1.50.
Put a few (teaspoon-full or less) crystals in a bottle, add 5ml of PG, put in the microwave for maybe 6 seconds, shake.
If you are going for pure VG I'd use alcohol (a decent vodka is probably best, gin is said to work) instead of the PG, rather than using VG.Make a lemon ejuice (no menthol yet)Mix 10ml of your preferred PG/VG mix in a bottle. e.g. if you like (have previously bought and liked) 50/50, put 5ml of each. The 10ml syringe is good for this. Add 1ml of vodka per 5ml of VG. Add the lemon flavour – use the small syringe. I'd start with 10%. So for a 50/50 mix, you'll now have 5ml PG, 5ml VG, 1ml alcohol (total 11ml so far), and 1.1 ml flavouring, total 12.1ml. Which I know is neither exactly 50/50 or exactly 10%, but at this stage, who cares?
Leave it to steep for four days.
Vape it, preferably by dripping 2 drops on an atty. If it tastes weak you have a choice – you could steep it a bit longer, or you could add maybe 0.3 ml flavouring and then steep another couple of days.
Adding MentholIf/when it tastes OK, put 3ml of it in another bottle. Add 1 drop (I kid you not) of menthol, shake, and vape that. If you need more menthol, add another drop and try again. The reason you separated out 3ml was in case you overdid it. Keep a record so you know how much to add to the rest of the bottle, and for next time.
That is it. Once you have something that you like you can start to vary the contents, try other sources of flavour and so on. If the throat hit is weak, replace some of the PG/VG with alcohol.
I brew up regularly, and for each flavour I usuually vape I have one bottle I'm using, one ready to be used, and one steeping. You'll also have a bottle of menthol. I wouldn't go much further ahead than that – your tastes may change.
Some variations:I specify alcohol above: de-ionised water will also work, but give less throat hit.
You could get away with only one syringe and needle, but they are cheap and handy.
I said five 30ml bottles because it seems silly to say buy ten without saying what they are for, but I bet you'll want more before you are through, so maybe get five 10 ml as well now, save some postage.
