With the arrival of my Vanilla custard from the Capella group buy, I have toddled into mixing like a small child taking its first steps, and am just wondering whether (to continue the metaphor) I should expect to bang into the furniture and fall over.
Here's what I have done. Please feel free to tell me what I should have done, what I have done wrong, what you would have done, or why I should not be allowed near any mixing items for my own good.
My initial aim: to make some Vanilla custard flavoured juice, VG only, 0% nic.
So, I bought some VG (from Tesco, as recommended in Grizwald's thread) and some deionised water.
I mixed the VG with some water to dilute it: 9ml water to 38ml VG, again as described by Grizwald.
I then took 8.5ml of the diluted VG and added 1.5 ml of the Capella Vanilla Custard. By my reckoning, that's 15%. Maybe not enough?
I've put this into a 30ml bottle to give it lots of room to manoeuvre, and have put the bottle in a dark place with the lid off.
I assume that now I need to leave it for a few days and then have a little taste to see if it tastes right to me, or if I should add any more flavour. I didn't want to add any sweetener or anything in case it was too sweet, as some people seem not to whilst others prefer a sweeter mix.
I'm starting as simply as possible, as you can probably see. If I can manage to make something palatable from just two ingredients, then I will be a happy bunny, but I'm not expecting a miracle on my first go....
So, I'm not quite sure just how long I should leave this before I taste it to see

May have to rethink the lanyard. I just turned round suddenly and now have a mild concussion...

That a Vivi Nova on top of an Ego twist looks like a scale model of the Post Office Tower? My nice new Vivi is working splendidly, as is the little sleeve to cover the thread, but the overall effect looks a bit weird. To me, anyway.

If they're going to be primarily using it for Skype then the idea of having just a dongle is probably not all that wise: it'll eat data and the PAYG or short-term contract dongles aren't particularly good value for money. They might be better with a proper broadband deal: there are some companies who offer contracts that don't involve you signing up for a 12 or 24 month contract. Again, not as cheap as the longer term contracts, but heaps more reliable than a dongle and less data usage restrictions.
How confident are you in their ability to be able to understand and use the technology? Tablets are quite intuitive if you've grown up with computers, but not necessarily the easiest thing to use and understand if you are getting on in years and your hands aren't as nimble as they once were. And the screen size isn't perhaps so great for someone whose eyesight isn't what it once was.
It might be worth seeing if you can find a reasonably priced secondhand laptop with a decent-sized screen and built-in webcam. If they are only going to use it for a couple of things, then memory and so on probably aren't in the least bit important. If it's "clean" and can be set up so they only have to press the minimum number of buttons to do what they want to do, all the better.
I don't want to appear to be being negative in any way, and I don't know any of you, of course, so forgive me if I'm stating the obvious or saying the wrong thing, but I wouldn't underestimate just how difficult it may prove to be for them to manage any sort of computer or e-mail and Skype, if they've never used them before. I hope they can, and if they are able to see and speak to their daughter in this difficult period then it would be fantastic, but it might prove to be hard for them to master..

With respect, a "consumer" association funded by vendors to uphold and protect their values is not a consumer association, it's a trade association.

Where did this thread hide for 3 days? Can I pretend to be super-organised and say Happy Christmas now? It's a bit late for the birthday wishes. :-[

There are typos and TYPOS.
Speaking as someone who works with adults with literacy and language problems, one thing I think is really important, particularly if you wish to come across as credible in a business/legal situation - and that's what we're talking about here - is to take a few minutes to check what you have written. Another handy tip is to use a spellchecker. Many are available.
Nobody on here, in my brief involvement with this forum, has EVER ripped the p** out of anyone for their spelling, grammar or punctuation, and there's no reason why anyone should feel bad about posting here just because they can't spell or write very well. However, if you are going to make a very public accusation and draw the attention of a wide audience to that accusation, to the extent of making it the main feature of the home page on your business website, then at the very least it should be coherent, IMO.
And - spelling and grammar aside - if you are going to start bandying about accusations and threats about legal action, it's a good idea to get the name of the alleged "crime" right.
ETA: It appears while I was typing this, it's already been said. Several times. It's not just me, then....

Can I ask a genuine question?
The other protagonist has said, and I quote: "what members on AAEC have not heard is our side of the story and have not seen the apology we made to her over a week ago on other websites".
Does such an apology exist, and has anyone seen it?
If there has been an apology by pm....how does XXX expect anyone other than the recipient to have seen it?
That was a rhetorical question, BTW.

I think (and it's only my opinion, FWIW) that it's a really, really good idea, if you plan on threatening legal action, to start by threatening legal action for something that the alleged perpetrator (that's the person who did it, if anyone needs help with the big words ) HAS done, rather than a random word you might have read heard somewhere. But hey, what do I know?

In an odd, and perhaps slightly baffling coincidence it seems gerbra3 has done little else on UKV apart from "like" almost every post made by G4S. If I were Miss Marple, I would find that suspicious. In fact, If I were Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder, I would find that suspicious. # #

Meanwhile, back at no spend month... I'm having an enforced no spend month because everything I'm waiting to buy is on group buys that haven't got here yet. OK, it won't quite be a month, but very shortly the no-spend period will be turning into a spending-quite-a-bit period!!
