I liked my new ego starter kit (stoptober offer) from ecigwizard and bought some of these clearos to supplement it; www.health-e-vape.co.uk/ce4v3--ego-16ml-changable-resistance-heads--long-wicks--4030-p.asp . I have to say, they are a better vape than the coloured CE4 supplied with the kit - but there seem to be a couple of issues. If I fill to 1.6ml I get a slight but persistant leak into the pipe which presumably means that the atty head doesn't make a good seal. If you look close at the picture on the link you can see that the bottom of the head is adjacent with the 1.6ml mark. It's not too much of a problem - although the free juice gurgles I don't end up with a mouthful - but there is sometimes a (small) external leak from the bottom when I pick it up. Also, I find the flavour and the throat hit starts to get rough when it's down to about 0.4ml. This wasn't the case with the original non-replacable which I could vape till almost empty. Consequently I only fill to the 1.4 mark and refill when it gets to the 0.4 mark so my 1.6ml clearo only really gives me 1ml capacity. Because I don't trust the seal I have to keep it upright at all times meaning that I'm still using the skycigs when I'm out and about. I'm not up on replaceables and bought these because they looked straightforward to swap out. If anyone knows these clearos, is this a known issue with this type of replaceable or is it likely just to be these ones and I should try a different vendor. Also, are there different (better?) replaceable/rebuildable configurations that I should be looking at? Cheers Ian (Yeah, I admit it's not really Dan - that's my brother. The avatar pic is definitely me though )

Completely agree that Dan will need another Ego/Riva battery at some point soon & I'd never recommend a one battery kit to someone that hasn't got any other back up. However, Dan does have his Skycigs to use while his Ego battery is charging Just what I was thinking - that way I can afford to treat this as a trial before committing to buy a bunch of other gear. Not that I doubt anyone's judgement in reccommending it you understand Anyway, I've got my starter kit ordered now so thanks all.

Right off for a kayak up the Fal river!! Ah - the perfect activity for a vaper. No need to burn anything and no danger of causing a fire on board. And as we all know - You can't have your Kayak and heat it www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/jokedrumf.gif [/img] Great post chykensa and thanks! @chrissie; thanks for the links. I have been checking for useful threads but obviously not looking hard enough. TBH I haven't even made it far from this board yet, there's so much reading here. Maybe the Terms and Abbreviations sticky would be better on this board for us newbies? (Tell me to clear off and mind my own business if you like - I am aware of the amount of work that goes into moderating these things). I've decided to go for the ecigwizard stoptober offer; www.ecigwizard.com/shop/en/electronic-cigarette-starter-kits/525-stoptober-vision-ego-kit.html. At that price it looks like a great option for a trial of the ego gear which everyone seems to agree is a good starting point.

3 weeks in and still can't get off that last 2 or 3 cancer sticks per day, but I will in time. Looks like I won't be sticking with Skycigs though. I felt that some of the cartridges weren't lasting as long as they should and it seems I was right. I didn't monitor it properly as I hadn't really got a sense of how long they should last but I've become certain since I started re-filling them. About 50% just don't work when re-filled. At first I thought I was doing something wrong so I started re-filling them in batches and it is definitely the case that I then throw about half of the newly filled ones away. On the other hand the ones that did work can be repeatedly and reliably re-filled. As I often have one hanging out of my mouth (as I always have done with ordinary cigs) and the extra weight means I'm gripping them with my teeth, it's become clear that the ones which won't refill are also the ones with no teeth marks on so they must have failed soon after purchase. Just thought this might help if anyone is like me and thinks they may have a problem with Skycigs carts but isn't sure. Plus the batteries are breaking down with monotonous regularity, and replacing them really is expensive. I ordered my third set of 2 a couple of days ago (and now I wish I hadn't ). All of which is leading to me looking for alternatives - I'm not so stuck on them looking like cigs now and am trying to decide what else I can try. I'm not asking for advice here because I'm reading it in many other threads but I still find it confusing. Because they have to be bought online I find it hard to understand the differences etc. - it would be good to find a high-street outlet where I could see what's on offer in the flesh. I wondered whether some of the more experienced members could possibly create a sticky giving an idiot's guide to the different types of kit out there. Or maybe just a glossary, including abbreviations (what is a PV btw?). Anyway - there's always YouTube.....

I definitely find a proportion of Skycig carts not lasting as long as others and I’m beginning to think that the nicotine hit is starting to decline well before the vapour stops hitting the throat satisfyingly. Also I went for ‘regular’ nicotine and I’m thinking that mostly that is enough but sometimes I need a better hit which is maybe why I’m still on 3-4 smokes a day.
I'm looking at tobacco flavoured juice from Vapology and am struggling to get my head around nicotine levels. Looking around the Web it is appears that there is no clear correlation between nicotine content of Vapour and carcinogen delivery systems, so I guess I’m going to have order different strengths and work it out through trial and error.
However I’d be interested to know if, in your experience, the nicotine level of the mix affects the flavour?

Thanks all des and Chrissie - I have no problem with the batteries at present. Although they don't last too long, the charger kit they provide means it's no more hassle keeping one charged and ready than, say, rolling one up. The only issue would be if there was a significant fall-off in battery efficiency after only a few weeks as constantly replacing them would certainly cut into the financial saving. I'm sure I'll try other brands in time but for now I'd to get my money's worth from the starter kit. I'm considering topping up with (tobacco flavoured) e-juice as I've had a couple of duff carts that didn't last anything like as long as they should have. I might also look for a nicotine free option (if I can find one - I don't think Skycig do this) as I'm convinced that half the time when I reach for a cig it's from habit as much as addiction.

New here and just wanted to say thanks as this forum has already been a mine of useful information. Been using Skycig for about 12 days now and am down to 4 tobacco cigs a day. Considering that's from a 40 year habit - much of that time around 30 a day - I'm happy with the progress. Afraid I can't bring myself to say that I'm 'Vaping' though. It makes me think of someone staring slack-jawed into space - a cross between 'vacant' and 'gaping'. As I already spend a lot of my time doing just that it's just going to lead to confusion.
