Well, Many thanks for all your warm welcomes, its always helps in chasing the novice away! As giving up smoking is one of those things in life I honestly thought I would not accomplish, I would like to share and contribute as I believe there is many, many people in the same position I was (i.e couldn't go anywhere without my baccy tin).
Coming back from St Lucia a few years ago, on a 10 hour flight with some old duffer in the seat in front who thought is was acceptable to shove his seat in recline the whole way back. (wouldnt have minded but he had a bulkhead seat with no seats in front of him). Well I can tell you, 10 hours without a cig.... I lasted 4 hours before the stewardess had to re-seat me. Luckily I didnt get arrested though haha.
Yes I think what I have read so far, I agree with. The E-lites are a stepping stone. And quite probably more of a symbolic move than anything else. Although I've blown my budget this month, its only another 2 weeks till payday and the RIVA 1100 is quite a regular mention.
Initial thoughts was that I wanted something that looked like a cigarette and tasted like one too. But lets face it we smoke because it gives us a hit, so aesthetics should be secondary and I'm looking forward to experimenting.
Well symptoms so far: (excuse any graphic descriptions!)
1) Still coughing but much less and now when I do cough it feels like Im coughing and shifting stuff 2) Using Asthma inhaler far less, in fact I'd go as far to say that I was probably only on them due to being a long term smoker, (only on inhalers for last 12 years or so, so its not a childhood affliction) 3) Constipation.... Didn't expect that one! And bloody hell, I finally know what it feels like to be pregnant! This does seem to be easing off a little bit. After normally being a 2-3 times a day man, it finally got to day 5 and I thought i'd have to wrestle the bugger to the ground! 4) Sense of smell became hyper after about 2 days. One of the chaps from work had nipped out for a smoke and when he walked passed me, I had the overwhelming urge to lick his coat.... Luckily I didn't as it was a fleece and I would have ended up with a mouth full of hair! But joking aside, I did first be incredibly irritated by other people's smoke, but it is bothering me less as time goes on. 5) Nibblies...Well what can I say... I always have had some dry roasted nuts or a pack of milk chocolate digestives within reach, and although I don't intend to double the ration, I think I have been reaching a little too often, so I think a little more self discipline is required there.
Haven't really felt any taste enhancements (yet) and not sure if these will come as technically I am still having nicotine, but we will wait and see.
One thing I am looking forward to is a deep clean of the inside of my car. Have just finished first soapy water clean of the windows on the inside and bloody hell, judging by the state of the cleaning cloth I am surprised I haven't received a fine for over-tinted windows!
Will keep you all posted!
All my best

First of all I'd like to say Hi, and.... OMG! Hadn't even heard of the word 'Vaping', but in the last 48 hours on this site, I know an awful lot more and learning more all the time. Over 30 years smoking with the last 15 on roll-ups, it took a scare from the 'big C' just before Christmas for me to think again about giving up. Having tried the usual patches, gum, and even hypnotherapy (that lasted a mere 8 hours) over the last 10 years, all to no avail, I had resigned myself to the fact that I would just have to wait until my lungs went 'pop' for the last time. The final 'push' that I needed came from the intensive 'E-Lite' marketing campaign over the last month or so and I was given the all clear. So I got my e-lite 2 weeks ago and sat there with a lit roll up in left hand and e-lite in right. Was completely stunned that I really couldn't tell the difference and haven't had another tobacco cig since Ten days later have spent about 80 Quid on spare battery's, e-lite tips, cases, chargers for the home, car and work. Then I thought: "I wonder if these little buggers can be refilled" Over to one of life's other little essentials...Google! Enter the world of vaping, with juice, cartomisers, atomisers and more shapes sizes and colours that you would think possible. And as for the flavours, well at least I know what to ask for for birthdays and fathers day etc... (was a little concerned though at what would pop up when I clicked the 'condom method' hyperlink). Anyway, after securing some baccy flavoured juice, refilling the e-lite tips is semi successful about 60-70% of the time (some e-lite tips don't seem to work that well while others do - Have been filling using a hypodermic needle with the needle pushed down into the outer wadding). May try that condom method on my next filling session. Will continue to 'gather knowledge' from this excellent site while I 'burn' through my stock of e-lite tips, but it looks like I will try one of the many alternatives recommended on here. The good news is that I have also managed to convert 2 chaps at work away from tobacco! I only hope that the Government don't start slapping duty on vaping. Thanks to everyone (from the bottom of my lungs) who have made some excellent posts on here (too many to mention!). and anyone still on the tobacco who are considering the shift, but, like I used to think 'that will never work', you have to try it. It really does work! All my best
