Newbie saying Hi

First of all I'd like to say Hi, and....  OMG! Hadn't even heard of the word 'Vaping', but in the last 48 hours on this site, I know an awful lot more and learning more all the time.

Over 30 years smoking with the last 15 on roll-ups, it took a scare from the 'big C' just before Christmas for me to think again about giving up. Having tried the usual patches, gum, and even hypnotherapy (that lasted a mere 8 hours) over the last 10 years, all to no avail, I had resigned myself to the fact that I would just have to wait until my lungs went 'pop' for the last time.

The final 'push' that I needed came from the intensive 'E-Lite' marketing campaign over the last month or so and I was given the all clear.

So I got my e-lite 2 weeks ago and sat there with a lit roll up in left hand and e-lite in right. Was completely stunned that I really couldn't tell the difference and haven't had another tobacco cig since    

Ten days later have spent about 80 Quid on spare battery's, e-lite tips, cases, chargers for the home, car and work. Then I thought: "I wonder if these little buggers can be refilled" Over to one of life's other little essentials...Google!

Enter the world of vaping, with juice, cartomisers, atomisers and more shapes sizes and colours that you would think possible. And as for the flavours, well at least I know what to ask for for birthdays and fathers day etc... (was a little concerned though at what would pop up when I clicked the 'condom method' hyperlink).

Anyway, after securing some baccy flavoured juice, refilling the e-lite tips is semi successful about 60-70% of the time (some e-lite tips don't seem to work that well while others do - Have been filling using a hypodermic needle with the needle pushed down into the outer wadding). May try that condom method on my next filling session.

Will continue to 'gather knowledge' from this excellent site while I 'burn' through my stock of e-lite tips, but it looks like I will try one of the many alternatives recommended on here.

The good news is that I have also managed to convert 2 chaps at work away from tobacco!  I only hope that the Government don't start slapping duty on vaping.

Thanks to everyone (from the bottom of my lungs) who have made some excellent posts on here (too many to mention!). and anyone still on the tobacco who are considering the shift, but, like I used to think 'that will never work', you have to try it. It really does work!

I am out and about on my missus iPhone so I'll be brief.

I started on e-lites and after 44 days of much craving and much money and even more unhappiness around my house, I moved on to e-cigs that have kept me off the fags ever since. I never managed to quit on e-lites, and my opinion is that they work out very expensive and are not really providing enough nicotine. If you have quit, well done, but I can honestly say that in over 1,000 hours spent researching small e-cigs and listening to peoples testimony, they would not be my recommended choice. The refills are £3.99 EACH, which is curiously expensive at two or three times more expensive than other brands. Also, none of my batteries worked very well after a period of time.

I don't know what to say. I expect you have reduced your nicotine level massively in order to quit, and I would argue this has been done by sheer mental will-power.
Congratulations. Keep on them if you can afford the running costs, even refilling the cartos. Personally, I'd say plan to move on.

Everybody thinks I am anti e-lites. Even e-lites have systematically had my reviews removed from the internet. I am NOT anti e-lites, I am anti the claims they make about their product and the frankly rediculous prices of the refills. I also nearly had a breakdown believing in what I was doing could replace smoking.

Hi Johnny, I also quit with e lites, but i only used them for one week, befor getting a better system, namely Ego t, so I never bought any refills, and only tried refilling them after i had passed the kit on, but yes as you have found out there is bigger and better out there, but instead of ten hands you will need ten pockets now, for all the wonga spent on shiney's lol.
