Create an account and login, go to the open ECCA room.
If you need a pass, it is: eccaroom
You can listen to the meeting, and if you have a headset (or a laptop with cam and mic) you can take part by voice, with video if wanted, otherwise questions can be typed in text input mode.
We need your opinions and what you think we should be working on. As a result of these meetings we start projects and update our website resources for your use. For example as a result of demand, we researched and created a policy on the ecig carto-cigarette equivalency number, which you can use in your dealings with vendors or for wider publicity.
We created and organise the World Vaping Day, a powerful publicity tool for electronic cigarette user groups.
Nobody else in the world provides some of the resources we do; your views are needed on what to work on next. The world's media come to us for their data, so what we publish and what we say does have an impact - and your job is simply to tell us what you need. The Times, the Wall Street Journal, The NY Times and Euromonitor use our e-cigarette data resources and help - so please help us to make a difference.
If you can also take part and help, so much the better. We have projects waiting to go that need: photographers; researchers; graphic designers; printers; writers; publicists; webmasters; accountants; organisers.

The MHRA, an agency within the UK's DoH, has announced its intention to go to law in 2013 to have the e-cigarette legally classified as a drug delivery device, and thus subject to an outright ban unless an individual product has an MA and can be sold as a medicine [see Notes for explanation of initials]. There are four legal arguments that could be used to attempt to show that e-cigarettes are a drug delivery device; but unfortunately for the MHRA, all these arguments have been defeated in court many times, when government or regional bans have been challenged. In fact, at the time of writing, government agencies have been defeated each and every time, in several different countries. The arguments do not stand up to challenge; and the courts are also aware that public health is not being protected by proposed regulations, but instead an attempt is being maded to protect the pharmaceutical industry's income at the expense of public health. Here are the principal arguments that have been tried, and that have repeatedly failed at law: read more...

www.eccauk.org/index.php/news-and-blog/the-future-of-e-cigarettes-in-the-uk.htmlElectronic cigarettes are at a turning point in the UK now. They have finally achieved enough user numbers to mean that ecigs are no longer under the radar, and have attracted the attention of the big guys. In addition, those big guys are starting to hurt from the income losses that ecigs are causing them. How will it all turn out? Will ecigs be banned, or regulated out of existence in the UK? continue reading

To fast track the process could those that are trying to join send me a PM here at all about with a "real name" and username that they use along with the email they used when signing up. That way if the name is already on the list I can activate it, and if not I can quickly add the details manually.

There's a saying "variety is the spice of life", I do agree with some of the comments though. If we have say 20 UK vendors all selling the same stuff, is this really variety. All that would appear to become is a price battle (which in some respect is also good for the consumer).
IMHO looking to the future, I'd like to see vaping expand more within the brick and mortar sector. then the question of how many vendors/retailers are stocking the products becomes redundant, the question will be who will corner the market as the distributors and manufacturers. Big Pharma (They'll want a piece of the pie, and a bland single flavour pie it'll be) The tobacco giants too are getting in on the action. If the vendors that are already here and those that were there in the beginning "the early adopters" don't band together (like ECITA have been trying to affect) then they will be squashed and priced out of the industry, obviously with a few exceptions.
If that happens there will be too few vendors and too little choice.

An online meeting may also take place simultaneously if possible - see ECCA website for details on the day. Agenda 1. Apologies for absence from committee officers and committee members. 2. Chairman's Introduction. 3. Treasurer's report. 4. Secretary's report. 5. Discuss the validity of (a) online votes for those attending the AGM online, and (b) proxy votes given to attendees by those who cannot attend. Vote as required. 6. Incorporation of ECCA - report. Vote: This AGM agrees the incorporation of ECCA as presented in the report. 7. Adopt the proposed constitution. a. Reading of constitution. b. Discussion of clauses. c. Proposed amendments, if any. d. Vote: This AGM agrees that ECCA will adopt the constitution as presented and amended. 8. Discussion of projects / achievements (events of the past few months, not future projects, which is in AOB). 9. Election of new committee officers: a. Chair b. Vice-Chair c. Treasurer d. Secretary e. Agree the proposed Forum Representatives. Proposals will be received on the day by verbal communication or by email up until 12 noon. Proposed candidates will be announced by the Chair and the proposer named. A seconder from the committee or the floor is needed. In the event of more than one candidate for any position, a vote will be held. 7. A.O.B. Notes This agenda will be subject to change up until 11am Saturday 22nd. We sincerely hope that a simultaneous online meeting can be held, and if those present at the AGM agree, the votes of online attendees will count. As this is the first attempt at this and we cannot guarantee the local facilities will allow this to take place without fault, we have to prioritise for the physical meeting and - until it actually happens - disregard the possibility of a successful online meeting happening simultaneously and providing a legitimate method of voting. All ECCA members may vote at the meeting. Proxy votes: those who cannot attend may 'give' their vote to another who can attend, so that person has two votes. See this thread: www.eccauk.org/index.php/forum/5-ecca-to...y-votes-for-agm.htmlPlease be aware that until the AGM is successfully completed we do not actually have a legitimate Association - everything up to that point is simply a trial. After that point, we need to organise a little more tightly, but to do that we need support - and we need volunteers to actually take part. Without volunteers to help, we can't do anything.
