scooter1 - no probs mate. The thing I love about AAEC is the camaraderie - everyone helps everyone else to the best of their ability. It's been said before, and will be said again by many: "It's the friendliest forum I've been on" - kudos to Chrissie, all the other mods, and the members of the forum. There is less 'elitism' here than anywhere else I've ever been. (In fact, I would go as far as saying, if it does exist here, it's very well hidden) Personally, I still consider myself very much a noob, but it can help - the daft little things that I've found out are still very fresh in my memory and if that can help someone else - fantastic. Oh - I've stolen a sewing needle from mrs. fred for rewicking Happy vaping Fred iam blown away by how friendly and helpful everyone here is,man i think iam going to chap this smoking habit on the head for good, already my breathing is better and i dont feel as tired,i have'nt stopped smoking completely but iam 90% there, the wife Wima abot 50% but thats a big step forward for us ,and we pay the bedroom tax so we are no snobs also. BTW i pushed a sewing machine needle right thru the center of the wick length ways then pulled it out after winding coil ,dont know if its the best way but seems to hold the wick good when winding.

scooter1 - due to the way a nova/evod/ce5/etc is recoiled, you will always have 1 more on the top than on the bottom. Count the wires on the pic mikeb linked - there are 5 crossing the top of the wick and 4 crossing the bottom of the wick. So - 5 on the top, 4 on the bottom. If someone says it has 5 coils, is that on the top or the bottom of the wick? That pic actually has 4 1/2 full coils, but that's even more confusing. So once it's coiled, you will have 1 more on the top than you have on the bottom Now i get it The 3 ohm heads i made are working but pop a bit ,iam using one tonight with DK-TAB and its a good vape ,I will redo the others and find a paper clip ,i have one of those big magnifying glasses on a stand that lights up so i can see what iam doing. A little help really helps and is much appreciated gents.

Right i see with the pic what you mean ,so once you finish you unwrap the wick each side of the coil so there is 4 wick tails each side going into the liquid.
Iam also cutting the small V's into the coil cap so it does'nt squeeze the wick letting juice flow better.
Its just practice now and not so tight on my coiling.

Ok i took the dog a walk and the penny dropped ,4 turns over a 3mm wick ,right ok so i have been doing to many turns ,4 turns then ,just tried one i made the other day its doing a little popping so the coil must be to tightly wound ,i stuck a needle thru the center of the wick so when removed the coil would'nt be so tight ,obviously i need to try and wrap looser. Thanks bro

Yes i read that also about variable wattage i think in general that should be correct, but would'nt you perhaps get a different vape with a coil with more turns using more of the wick ,the reason i say that is that my big coils seem to give more taste than the original one did ,perhaps its not got to work so hard as its using much more wick ,geez i thinking into this to much.
So i need say .17 kenthal and less turns say 4 or 5 and look for about 2 ohms on the coil?.
I bet when you get these things right your heavenly vaping compared to the coils they come with. Thanks Fred

Hi i have had a go at rebuilding Nova coils over the last couple of weeks. First one i made was popping badly ,my coil looked good but was too tightly wound on the wick.
Since then i have got better and have made 4 heads which are about 3 ohms each i went for 6 turns which sits really tight in the head.
The question is what is the correct gauge of kenthal to use in Nova's ,i read people are using .20mm Kenthal but to me it seems much thicker than the original coil wire in novas. Would .15 or .17 be better to work with requiring less turns to get the same resistance .
What would you suggest is the best working resistance for heads in a Nova?
I would normally run my vamo with a Nova at about 6.5 watts but with my home made coils its about 9 watts to get the same vape.
I take it the lower the resistance in the head the lower the power setting in watts and the higher the resistance the higher the power required for the same output.
I think i pretty well have this i would appreciate a little guidance to get it right for myself and my friends and neighbours as i will be the one keeping all their vamo's going.

You just have to hang in there scooter1, if it's something you want then you can achieve it. I was a smoker for 29 years, 30 fags a day, a collection of pipes to choose from and the odd cigar. Finding the right flavour and nic strength was key to getting me off smoking. I've been at it for 9 months now and only just convinced Wife to get her Riva 1100 kit last week! She is an ardent smoker as was I but I am hoping to wear her down. Thanks for the kind words ,i think as long as we keep trying ,if we get fed up we can always go back to vaping after a few days and get back on track ,i think your right about getting the right e liquid ,everyone i know that vapes keeps dumping menthol on me ,like they try it and dont like it ,the back of my fridge is filling up with bottles ,its tight getting the marge in.

Hi scooter1, and welcome to the forum If there is any advice we can give you, please shout! You might want to have a look at our newly-revitalised recipe threads , where you will find a great selection of tasty juices. If you ask nicely, one of us would gladly mix these for you if you aren't confident enough to DIY. We can adjust the strength to suit, and can add other ingredients too. PM me chykensa if you would like more advice! Andy I will have a look thanks

Thanks for the welcome, right now i have her on 555 but she says its a bit leafy ,our DK-TAB went off in the summer heat during transit time from HK ,it was rank,we are rattling for our TAB ,got some ordered from viking and Red USA mix to try just hope it gets here quick.
Whats dekang red USA mix like is it as strong as DK-TAB that might be the one or Camel/desert ship or even Turkish is any of them strong but not sweet.

Hi & welcome to the forum, scooter1. Maybe if your wife hits on an eliquid she really likes, she'll give up totally, cutting right down is good though. Hi the only liquid that she kinda likes is Dekang DK-TAB i think the problem is the rest are sweet and not strong enough for people on a lot of medication that have lost their taste.

Hello i have been into vaping for about 3 years but have fell by the wayside quite a few times ,but this time around we have better devices like vamo's and better knowledge of liquids ,so we hope to keep on track this time. The wife is a hard nut to crack being a life time smoker but she is doing not to bad this time cutting down to about 8 cigs a day ,and for health reasons i really need to get her off cigs.

Man this is just pure ignorance on the part of the Employers ,they dont know if ecigs can cause harm or not because it has never been proved ,So what they say is "we will just ebb on the side of caution".
Iam now hearing this word "Normalized" all the time ,they dont want Ecigs to become normal or a life trend where workers would slow down production using their ecigs.
They have looked for ways to discredit ecigs the harm side does'nt work anymore as they are proved to save life's .
Also today the University of Dundee banned ecigs to try to stop them being normalized within the student community. Did'nt they try the same with rock and roll music.
