Thanks Perpetua and andy01424 The isopropyl looks handy - will check it out later - am chomping at the bit to to do my first build so may have to check out Aldi! - can't find the cleaner on their web site though. Meanwhile have my atty soaking in washing up liquid and hottish water - its about to be attacked with a toothbrush! Prob leave it overnight in the denture powder if I can find it and do a build tomorrow... patience... patience... doh - wrote this ages ago but didn't post it - my poor sad brain ....

Thanks zeldamum and chykensa- sorry didn't see your replies - went straight to the thread from notifications and it took me to the bottom post from spikus so I didn't realise there were other replies - distracted by irritating Microsoft messages from my wife's pc which I am rebuilding in the corner Perfect timing - was about to throw out an old tootbrush - it is reborn in a new role! Also sure I have some denture stuff somewhere - it's really good for getting stubborn tea stains off cups...

Thanks spikus. Do you take the o-rings off first? Wasn't sure if the hot water would do the rubber in... Darn - have no gin or vodka in the house - would any spirit do? I could sacrifice some Jack Daniels for a good cause Alternatively I do have some methelated spirits and acetone - I use them for thouroughly degreasing arrows before I refletch them. Don't know if either would leave a residue though

How do you go about it? I have just received my new Taifun GT (clone) - it looks and feels pretty sweet! But there is the faintest smell of machine oil from the base - so I figure a good clean is in order before I try my first coil build! . I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner so will have to take a low tech route... can't seem to disassemble the base that the build deck sits on so the cleaning method would have to penetrate the gubbins there somehow...
Thanks

Clivia- if you do decide to go with the Nemmy and kick route, I bought the kick 1 directly from evolv. Think it came to about £13 inc postage from the US. Only useful if you if you don't go above 10 watts though www.evolvapor.com/shop.php

@scooby - fully agree! Just thinking of ordering more... Thanks to spikus for pointing out the FT ones - although I was aware of them I really didn't trust the quality so it's great to have a genuine take on them. Plan to have 3 maybe 4 mech mods eventually (1 or 2 for indoors plus a choice of 2 for out and about) so I guess I should have 4 kicks as a min to save swapping about ... anyone know the life expectancy of kicks? Do people have loads of spares just in case?

cool - thanks spikus enjay- I think I will stick with the GT only route for now - it will arrive one day! If it works as well for me as it does for spikus I will buy some more of the same. I'm sure that the kayfuns are good too - but this way I shall only have one thing to learn to rebuild After this I will get some more mech mods (prob the atom and/or astro) to keep me going when my vw kit fails one day.... then that will be that (other than rebuilding and mixing of course!) I have been surprised at how much I have spent so far (shiney, shiney!) - and even more surpised at how much time I have spent researching stuff. Looking forward to the day when I can just vape and not think about it

Thanks spikus - really helpful - much appreciated From all you've said I think I'll stick with the GT and wait for FT to deliver.... Did you get your GT from FT or did you use a UK supplier?

spikus - how would you say the squape stacks up against the GT? (clones that is) As I mentioned I am thinking of getting the squape clone from m-vape. Two things are holding me back though - 1) concerns about the coating on the deck of the clone and 2) price - could get 3 GTs from Fastech... need to see what I get from FT re the quality though - who knows what in the batch I ordered from lol....

spikus - I ordered the SS tank at the same time - though by the sound of it there's only a 50/50 chance of the threads fitting at both ends

Thanks chykensa - they sound great if you have their Fastech SKUs handy that would be really helpful. At the mo am still awaiting delivery of my first RBA - the Taifun GT clone from FT too. Sounds like getting one of each would def be worth the punt! Also considering the sqaupe clone from m-vapes.... more impatience than anything driving that I think

Good job tomj777 (excellent sig btw) - have just checked the site and there is now a link under More->Returns policy (or something similar!) with mentions DSR stuff. Hopefully a few steps nearer ...

Hi @scooby - yes I have got mine! They came quite quickly - no duty to pay.... Was going to report back then was hit by some really bad news so everything got derailed. Hmm - I didn't actually open to check mine - just gleefully packed them away for future use - what a muppet Boy the QC looks like pants... thought getting stuff directly form evolv would be safe as houses - sigh. Will have a look at mine tomorrow and report back. Have you tried using your kick or is it not worth the risk?
