With the aerotank screwed on, & removing all parts of the mod except the end bit with the centre pin, I can feel that it is definitely connecting with the atty's centre pin, cos the pin actually sticks out slightly compared to when the atty's not attached (see in the pic, the wee half mm of black bit, that is sticking out a tiny bit further than if the atty wasn't there where it would sit flush with the brass)
AH BUMS!! can't post any pics now, annoying. Anyway I'm positive that the centre pins are connecting with each other, I can feel it. Although thanks for making me check that cos it could've easily been that.
Have I definitely got the battery the right way round aye??

I don't think the switch does lock at all, it's pretty basic, just pushes in to connect or springs back out to disconnect if it's not being pushed in, no other actions.. yeah I think the way I've put it together the centre pin does seem to be connecting.. I do have a meter (unused as yet), how would I check the voltage? what would I connect to what? thanks

haha! well you've found me out, I'm a wrongly-perceptive eejit! (I know you said don't weigh it, but, c'mon, it's me ya talkin to!!) aerotank with juice = 60g; davide without juice = 56g! completely on it's head with my thinkings lol!

The aerotank ain't plastic jobbies haha!! it's pyrex glass just the same um, well I think they're about the same weight actually, but then the aerotank's full of juice & the davide's empty.. I guess maybe that was just my perception cos it was the first one I opened & I thought 'F me, that is heavy!!' but aye on second weighings it's prob just normal for a glass tank methinks? na, prob not ridiculous

Hey friendlies, me again! Stuck with my mechanical mod, first time I've put it together with the battery & atty.. can't get the circuit to complete! Probable that I've got something the wrong way round / upside down / inside out?! Would appreciate some help cos I've been looking forward to this moment for months! Any ideas Adam78, giles or @johanino? Or any mechanical mod users? Obv. there aren't any instructions with it but it seems to be fairly self explanatory apart from the fact it's not doing anything (and yes I have tried pressing the fire button lol) Only thing I wasn't sure about was which was positive / negative end for putting the battery in, but I've tried both ways. It's a sentinel clone with currently an aerotank on, & Efest 2250mAh batteries (which have been prime-charged for 24hrs): This is how I put it together: I've got more pics but they don't seem to want to load.. at the atomiser end of the mod there's a loose centre pin which I've put in so the pin points up to the atomiser & the flat metal end should connect with the battery, that seems to be the best way it fits, and on the base end where the fire button is, there's a few wee sections which screw together with a spring in the middle to make up the fire button, I'm sure that's the right way round for all of that too & as you push the button in it looks like it should make the connection with the battery. So not sure where I'm going wrong?! I've got it screwed up snugly & it feels like all the connections are touching, but with the atty screwed on (which does work on other batteries) it's just not doing anything at all! Thanks folks

Hey Jane, I replied in the 'advice about decent vaper' thread cos thought it was less relevant to batteries & more to my prev. question.. I had a bit of trouble when I first came here finding the info I needed so I thought I'd try & be careful & keep info in the relevant places.. Thanks though, all is good Check out http://allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/35140/captain-vapers-advice-decent-vaper?page=3&scrollTo=618695 A few more hours & I'll be modded right up yay!!

REVIEW OF ASPIRE, DAVIDE, AEROTANK atomisers (so far...) Feb 9, 2014 12:12:01 GMT The Mod Destroyer said: How are you getting on with the sentinel and the davide king @purkie Heya J, all is good, been struggling away with my last surviving ego batt for the last few days, although extremely happy with the atomisers I bought.. the sentinel looks fantastic & very excited about getting it up & running, finally got my batteries thru just now so need to do a full 24hr charge to prime them methinks, will be away in a puff of vape tomorrow morning haha!! So the atomisers.. I've got & tried the Davide king, the Aerotank, & a wee Aspire ce5-shape glassomiser which was cheaper & I thought looked a bit less break-easy for out & about (also a lot lighter which is good cos I do a lot of mountaineering & in the winter I've got enough to bloody carry, ha!!). And all of them are really fantastic, even with my shitty ego batt, a total world away from the ce4/5 & gsh2 plastic clearomisers cheap off ebay that I was using before. Really exceptionally pleased that I made the move onto the real stuff!!! For the price, the wee Aspire thing is by far the best value & is really satisfying, it's BDC & I've not had it long enough yet to need to try recoiling it, but I'm not too worried about that just yet! It just gives really really good vape-production, & much better flavour than I was used to as well, for £6 you really can't go wrong with it & I would totally recommend to someone needing more satisfaction but not able to spend a lot on a whole new set-up. Also the shape of it & the fact it's covered in that soft-touch plastic stuff apart from a wee window, makes me think I'll be relatively safe with it lol..! Obv it's not completely rebuildable so I couldn't replace the glass if needed, but as most others replaceable coils & could build my own, changeable drip tip etc.. 10/10 for a wee cheap thing defo! (It's 1.8? from here: www.smokshop.com/collections/cartomizers/products/anyvape-aspire-ce5-s-bdc) In comparison to what I was used to, it's seriously incredible. However as they are currently set up & resistances they currently have, the Davide & Aerotank are better as you'd expect, although slightly less easy.. The Davide is a bit less consistent, prob because I've not filled it with a needle yet & have been pushing my luck with very careful dripping! So I've had some leaky / bubbly issues, easily rectified by a good blow & wipe out. The first drag was pure heaven (it was the first atomiser I tried after the plastic crap), loooooads of vape, and totally surprising real flavour (mmmmm applemint!!!), I was well impressed. But then it went all burnt & really felt like I was back on the fags! YUK!! I hadn't taken the precaution of dry-burning the coil as I kinda assumed it would've been built well, but I'll not make that mistake again! So after a few days experience.. it's still a bit inconsistent, very possibly because I need to (& haven't) needle-fill it, but sometimes it's absolutely incredible, other times it lacks flavour or doesn't produce that much vape, or floods. Basically I think this is due to my inexperience & crap battery I've been using it on, I'd definitely recommend to someone who's used to the issues with decent atomisers. When it's happy, 10/10 for vape production & flavour. It's mega heavy by the way, hopefully that means the glass is thick & won't break too easily!! The Aerotank is also really amazing. It's the most consistent of the three & doesn't actually seem to have the capacity to leak because the base of it is completely sealed. I did dry-burn the coil before first use, & washed it, so maybe that helped, but every single drag has been amazing. No problems at all! Great flavour (possibly very slightly less than the Davide on a davide-happy-day, but still exceptionally good) & loads of vape.. I've found cos it's set up at 2? currently it doesn't do so well on my crappy battery, so usually if I'm using this I steal my partner's (also crap but better) ego twist vv, on an only slight kick it really works fantastically, so whenever I can get my hands on the twist the Aerotank is always 1st in line. I guess mainly because I find it more consistent than the Davide & easier to fill, & also it's very aesthetically pleasing (although I try to think that's not important to me..!) So this gets 10/10 overall, although I'm sure when I start treating the Davide like it wants to be treated this might change, not sure yet will see how it goes Bear in mind that all of this is based on use with a very crap battery & out-the-box experience - I'm intending to experiment with lower resistances, especially in the aerotank, & I need to learn how to re-coil all of them as all of them are BDC (although happy to know I can stick a single in the aerotank!). All in all I'm REALLY REALLY chuffed with all of them, they've totally changed my experience of vaping, & would recommend to anyone definitely Thanks everyone for helping me find what I needed!

Also, MASSIVE thank yous & huge appreciation to Jane, @johanino.. I got my mod thru this morning!!! Heard the postie dithering, & then a very heavy-sounding 'plop!', and then a very excited Lauren!!! It was really extremely kind of you Jane, thanks very much. As I'm now over my overdraft limit I would've ended up a bit stuck without it!! well, very stuck in fact. Thank you thank you thank you, lovely lass! Awaiting batteries, so I'll let you know how it goes! Plus I know you're keen for me to tell you all about the davide king.. I will.. although I'm not sure yet that it's working quite right, not least because I've got it balanced on top of weeny skinny ego battery, ha! looks hilarious so it does

I don't know what I'm going to prefer yet in regards to BDC / BCC, & the aerotank looked & sounded & reviewed like it was exactly what I was after. I'm such a fruitcake though, honestly, I got it through yesterday & still haven't been brave enough to unwrap it, let alone try it out!! (WHAT A LOONY!!) that aside, cos I don't know what will be better (BDC / BCC) and also get the balance right between being good to vape but also not tooooo difficult to build coils for, it's good to know that if I can't manage dual coil fiddling just yet that I can also bodge a single coil in there, as I'm pretty confident (I think) I can do that! progression is the key I have had the davide out, & filled it up ok with juice.. or at least I thought I had.. I was just really careful with each drop & made sure it went in the wee holes (the davide king has got like a central narrow tube which comes up a lot higher than the top of the tank, I assume this is the air-hole, so when you take off the drip-tip there's quite clearly two reasonable sized holes straight through into the tank to refill into). They're about 2mm wide. P'raps I would be easier with a syringe, need to get some anyway for measuring DIY juice ingredients, so I'll try with one too. The davide's been a bit funny actually.. can I post about that here or should I start a new yin in the 'general vaping - issues' section..?

Thanks folks, yep I probably was making it a bit too confusing for myself, but I am a bit OCD & wanted to make sure I knew vaguely what I was doing.. I'm sure there's a good reason why mechanical mods are listed as being for 'advanced users' on most websites, and I'm definitely not that..! So just wanted to get a basic understanding of how it all works, including battery types & resistance, so I could feel safe enough venturing into new vaping territory Everyone's advice has been really helpful with that, as well as some of the sort-of 'here's how it all works' stylee forum posts that some kind folks have linked me to. I just had a couple more brain-glitches of confusion so used this thread for that. Anyway I'm glad that it seems I landed on my feet (unusually!) with the right batteries, and it's good to know how & why to be careful (esp. with the IMR info, thanks). Cheeries!

I meant to add.. the reason I don't think your PV will work with e-juice is that (to my very basic understanding) the batteries are very different.. I think inside a dry herb vapouriser is an 'aa' style NiMH or NiCd battery; these do not provide enough voltage to vapourise e-juice. I have no idea about what kind of coils they use, but I imagine that it's all quite different (although from the outside it might look just like a e-juice vaping pen) because the function of vapourising a wax, oil, or dry herb, is completely different to vapourising a liquid. Hope that helps, it can get a bit complicated to be honest, but aye I would go for a starter kit from one of the UK-based websites, like Myepack, or there's plenty of others. Good luck!

Hey mrleub, welcome! you've come to the right place! I actually had exactly the same problem when I was trying to find out more about vaping in the beginning, and kept coming across vapourisers for 'dry herbs'.. well not being an 'erb' smoker that didn't really help me.. but it seemed to be all I was coming across for a while!! If you've already got your vapouriser, it's probably worth putting in some e-juice (the shop I use to get mine is www.joosejuice.co.uk as it's the cheapest I've found & is also very quick for delivery), just get one 10ml taster to start with to find out if your PV (personal vapouriser) works with e-juice.. I reckon it must be worth a try? If it doesn't work, which to be honest I think it might not, then you'd be best going for something like the starter kit which giles linked, there are also cheap things on ebay but they're really hit & miss - some just don't work at all, others break in 5minutes, and others (which look exactly the same) work great!! Myepack is a good, reliable site, I'm sure others can recommend more.. There is really a wealth of help & info out there, a lot of it here on this site, & lovely friendly people reside here too, so if you want just ask! Hope your vaping gets off to a flying start
