Oh and just to clarify I'm not just after a decent battery, I need a decent whole device incl. battery & top (atom/cartom/clearomiser) - although I'm fine to buy the bits separately & not in a starter pack..

Hey! Just joined here, started vaping a few months ago & loving it.. however getting frustrated with cheapy ego batteries & 'gsh2' tops; my partner replaces the coil & wicks for me so we don't have to keep buying new atomisers (or are they cartomisers or clearomisers, ooft!!), & experimented with a few different ego batteries (incl. ego twist vv) but I'm obviously not getting a very good vape most of the time! When the battery's just been charged & the coil is fairly new it's pretty good but I want to find myself a decent vaper.. So I've been looking about.. not really tempted by any of the skinny things that look like ego's but are made by better companies, I'm kinda assuming they'll be just as volatile.. so really would like advice about how to choose a device that will give me a decent vape. I've been reading about mechanical mods, the idea of being able to control everything yourself, fix everything yourself etc. sounds very tempting, but I'm also thinking that maybe the likelihood of me starting a fire / out-burning the whole device / wrecking an important bit / etc.. is pretty high?? If I understand correctly then if I use a protected battery in a mech mod then I'm less likely to burn out the battery because it won't get overcharged so easily, it won't vape at too low a resistance or too high voltage, is that right? What are the other negatives to trying out mods? Is it hard to work out all the different variables so you actually get any vape out at all!? That would be a bit gutting.. I'm skint but also trying to be realistic, so I hoping to spend around £50 or less to get something good which will satisfy & also last me a good while; I'm very happy to be fixing or messing about with bits like putting in new coils etc. as long as I don't need a degree in physics or electronics to do so.. (I do have a basic understanding of circuits & batteries tho). I've posted this here rather than a mod forum because I am not long started & have very little experience of different kinds of vaping devices. It's quite possible that I'll be much better off with something more user-friendly than a mech mod but it's really hard to tell without buying them all & finding out haha!! Also there seems to be a big variation in price - it looks to me like I could get a really good but completely mechanical mod for £30 - £50, whereas a well-made device like (but better than) ego where it's basically all worked out for you looks like it would cost anything from £70 upwards..!! Also what are the dangers of buying second hand?? So advise me please captain vapers!! Any tips or ideas are very much appreciated Apologies if this question gets asked all the time, I really don't have a clue about internet etiquette & forums etc.. Thanking yous
