I told the annoying mug dealing with my FT ticket to tell his colleagues to put a value on UK parcels below £15 otherwise my days of shopping there are done as there's no saving to be had shopping there and i can get the items in the UK for the same price next day if i'm going to get hit with VAT and RM fees. I think this is related to the problem they have with converting prices from USD to GBP on there they don't seem to pay any attention to exchange rates. 12 months ago the $20 declaration they're using would be fine because the pound was stronger against the dollar. The idiot can't seem to grasp that i'm not bothered about a refund i am highlighting an issue. I expect he'd understand you better if you used the Yue dialect rather than standard Mandarin.

The AWS LB-501 scales are US mixers' clear favourite and I figured it was time to check them out. I picked them up from US-based Ebay outlet '401-tech' for £37.66 including delivery to the UK in around 10 days. The scales work straight out of the box using the included 4x AAA batteries (with a 2min cut-off) but the PSU is in a US 2-pin 'wall wart' plug so I'll need a cheap UK power adapter to confirm that they don't switch off when powered from the mains. The package also includes 2x 200g calibration weights to check your scales' accuracy - mine was reading 400.3g so 'out' by 0.75%! They feel more robust (dare I say a better build quality?) and far more sensitive / responsive than the much cheaper similar scales I've seen but whether that makes them worth the price will be down to individual preference. Correction: my maths ain't as good as it once was - the scale was 'out' by 0.075% :-) Thanks @yinyang

I'm looking for ideas of how we persuade all retailers to always add a free plastic case with every battery sold.

If you search Google for the price including the dollar sign, eg. $77.52, it'll show you a more accurate conversion rate:

Work out how much extra the last 30ml mix you made will cost using 18mg/ml (at 89p for 10ml)? Yeah I know it will be more expensive, I was just thinking that at least it will still be possible, and with the price of ready made liquids set to rise with the cost of testing due to be passed on to the customer it should still work out cheaper to mix your own, albeit not as much cheaper as it used to be.
Best bet is still to stock up on nic base while you can
Actually I was wondering if you had any idea how much the TPD would increase the cost of making your juice. For instance, these are the costings for a generic mix at 6mg/ml at a ratio of 30/70vg using 20% flavouring using the prices I paid for my current ingredients. Pre-TPD72mg/ml Nicotine | £33.24 / 500ml | 2.5ml | 0.17 | PG | £9.21 / 2000ml | 3.0ml | 0.01 | VG | £4.09 / 1000ml | 18.5ml | 0.08 | Flavouring | £2.00 / 10ml | 6ml | 1.20 | Total cost | | | £1.46 |
Post-TPD18mg/ml Nicotine | £0.89 / 10ml | 10.0ml | 0.89 | PG | £9.21 / 2000ml | 3.0ml | 0.01 | VG | £4.09 / 1000ml | 11.0ml | 0.05 | Flavouring | £2.00 / 10ml | 6ml | 1.20 | Total cost | | | £2.15 |
It's a 50% increase in cost but - compared to ready-made liquids at retail prices - it's still going to be dirt cheap, especially for those on low nic mixes. Using the same unit prices, a 30ml mix at 3mg/ml which currently costs £1.38 would increase to £1.72.

Welcome to the world of Nicotine Shots . . . . . the future after May 20th 2017 in the UK. 18 x 10ml bottles @20mg - £15.99 Not exactly going to be cheap to mix your own in the future then if you don't stock up while it lasts, but at least there is a future Work out how much extra the last 30ml mix you made will cost using 18mg/ml (at 89p for 10ml)?

Haven't studied them really Russ . . . . other than to note some of the sweetener ratio's! Well it seems he was / is very cryptic is the "book" and its not so simple to work out what he does actually use and amounts pre recipe but yes some of the sweeter ratios are unreal no wonder coils dont last long The 'recipes' are to make flavour bases (or bulk one-shots) that are then intended to be used at 15%. To get ingredient percentages, enter the amount of flavouring to make (in E3) as 15ml and set column E to number format with just one decimal place. The figures in the "ml to add" column (E) will now be the percentages to add to a juice recipe.

Chris ( ceedee ) said that there's already a reddit group looking to crowdfund the purchase Boomdog07 has already paid for a copy of their recipe spreadsheet and is asking for $5 contributions to send on a copy when it arrives. Edited to add: G-Fog in the ELR Forums has also bought the recipe spreadsheet but so far hasn't announced what they intend to do with them...

I'd just give the bottle a decent shake before dripping and probably give a tank tankful the same treatment every now and again.

The FM Forest Fruits is a triacetin-based concentrate which frequently separates, especially in higher-vg mixes, and I'd guess the Red Gin will be too.

I believe these stickers are put on parcels that originate from outside the EU and are routed through one EU country but destined for another - to warn the destination customs not to presume that it's contents had already been checked.
It seems unlikely that UK customs would allow the parcel through at all if they believed it's contents did not comply with our version of the TPD.
(And it doesn't matter what the capacity of an atomiser is or if it's leakproof but whether the item has received 'clearance' that it conforms to the technical requirements following a TPD notification. Theoretically from the end of November, it'll be possible to search the online database to check which products are 'permitted'.)

They remove them when they do a stock take, so may be back on site soon I think I remember reading something to that that effect on Chefs FB group . . . . ceedee will be the font of knowledge on that one. Yep - I expect it's so they can reconcile the physical stock with what the website believes should be on the shelf. If the Flavour Junkie section hasn't reappeared by the morning, hassle Chefs to get it back online? (I'd offer to do it but expect to be really busy until at least lunchtime.)
