I don't know if they're allowed to accept gifts - might be seen as a bribe, nor do I know if security will allow something like that to be passed through. But, it's definitely worth a try - no harm in that.

I know, it is strange. It seems to be a move to turn people into dependants of the state so we can be controlled and pushed around and they can justify their jobs. The cost is loss of self-determination and distorted ideas about what should motivate people to look after themselves.

There's a scheme in the US now to pay drug users to be sterilised ... very strange.

Peaceful Demonstration against Smoking Cessation Conference

'The UK National Smoking Cessation Conference is the world's largest gathering of stop smoking practitioners, policy makers and researchers.

All patient groups are covered, including pregnant smokers, young people, those with mental health problems, in secure environments, and hard to reach groups. Treatment modalities are also comprehensively addressed with presentations describing the state of the art on new medications, forthcoming treatments (like the nicotine vaccine), as well as researchers and practitioners presenting the latest on optimising existing treatments that are known to be effective, such as Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), with results of work looking at combining products and ‘pre-loading’ prior to quitting.

The UK petition to the Prime Minister is to be delivered at 1pm on Wednesday 2nd June, the day the government consultation on regulation of nicotine containing products closes.

Please let me know if you will be attending. Six representatives will be allowed to deliver the petition to the door of No 10, two places have been claimed, the first four people to contact me get the remaining places. kate@vapersnetwork.org

After the petition is delivered there will be a social get-together, so even if you're not one of the six to get to the door, you might have a bit of a laugh if you're in the area and you come along.

Lol, don't worry about being helpful, I'm just interested in what folk think of the issue.

Personally I resent the restrictions on smoking in mental health places. I've been locked up in them a couple of times and smoking restrictions are the last sort of 'help' I needed to make me normal.
