Hi kitty778 to AAEC.
I would go for the following, bearing in mind this is your first look at vaping.
A spinner 2 will give you adjustable power and decent life before a recharge is needed.myepack spinner 2 you will need 2 batteries or you will have nothing to vape while you wait for it to charge up. Or A VV v3 myepack vv v3 This is also adjustable power but has a much smaller capacity battery(half capacity of the spinner), but you can vape while its charging, so you may get away with one for a while.
For a clearo I would go for a mini so it fits nice on the spinner or v3. The aerotank Mow mini is now available or one of the other mini's like protank 3 and I see a kanger geni tank mini as well. clear's
If you weren't bothered about adjustable power, I would have said get the EVOD 650mah starter kit, but it looks like you want to skip that and go for something which is adjustable. 2xSpinners and a clearo wont be much dearer, so why not.

Maybe just a mechanical problem causing a jam at the switch? If you have another device stick the battery in that and see if it works normally. Then recharge it after a while and see if it reacts normally. What battery is it and what device are you using? Was it still vaping when the switch was jammed? It was the atty shorting, I don't know why after the fist short it read normal, or why it worked for half an hour before doing it to me again. It was an ithica stlye atty and I guess the long wire that you wrap around the bottom must of been touching something outside the ceramic cup.
see if they will charge if they do then they are fine well thats what i do anyways. i have no idea why you were getting short though They were IMR batteries, I have charged them up again and they seem to be ok. I was surprised at how quick the batts heat up though, it couldn't have been more than 15secs before I had the switch off the mod. Really cant think of a reason why the magnets would be shot, verrry strange ??? The magnets were on the battery and button switch, they provide the repelling force to the switch. I guess when such a high amount of power went through them it changed the polarity or just messed up the magnetism totally. So the switch just stuck straight down on the battery so the connection couldn't be broken.

No I don't wash the cotton. I use Boots Baby Essentials and think its just fine as it comes. I cant see boots selling stuff soaked in pesticides for babies, but I could be wrong.

Made a mistake this morning. I recoiled a Penelope and forgot to check it.
Fired it up and the magnetic switch just clamped down on the mech mod. Knew something was up so unscrewed the switch and atty quick. Battery was pretty hot but not so hot I couldn't hold it. Magnets were shot. So I checked the Penelope, all seemed ok, was reading .9 which is what I would have expected from the coil ??? So what the hell was it?
I checked the mod out, looked for anywhere that it may short out but couldn't see any problem. Put in another battery and checked it with a meter, still ok. Rechecked atty and put it back on, fired ok and used it for half an hour, then same thing happened switch clamped down, panic, unscrew, more panic.
Atty now reading 000, bloody thing. Another set of magnets shot away.
What shall I do with the batteries? they did heat up but not so hot I couldn't hold them. Do you think they will be ok?

Thanks for that are the battries that come with the kit ok are would it be better to buy the mod and the battery/charger seperate. The batteries and the tank that come with it are rubbish IMO. The manual states 'don't use protected batteries' and they supply 2 ICR protected batteries with it. Try figure that one out. A case of the marketing department not listening to the design team and just bundling anything cheap with it to call it a starter kit.

Hi Pixilocks It sounds like the cotton is not filling the 2 slots cut in the atty. The duel coil attys tend to have a larger slot cut in them for the 2 coils and when recoiled for 1 coil you need to fill that extra gap up. Do as decoy says and once the cotton is threaded and cut, spread the cotton so it fills the gaps.
I blow on the ends of the cotton to 'fluff it up'.
Didn't have a atty that needed recoiling, but I threaded a coil with cotton a fluffed up the ends to show you what I mean. Before... After......
After they look like this, they will fill the gaps better and wont flood.

+1 on what fred says, the big lump of cool metal that is your vamo will draw the heat out of the atty more than the evod will, just like a heatsink.

My clearo's get hot every time I vape and the heat transfers through the metal to the mod. Ive thought myself that maybe the battery was getting hot and unscrewed the mod and taken them out only to find they are fine, not even warm.(paranoia setting in when vaping at .2 ohm) Like Greg says lower ohms will put more strain on the battery and cause it to heat up. 2 ohm is 2amps at 4v so I don't think the evod will be unduly stressed at that.

thanks. The reason I am curious is because I read that PG/VG is only heated, not burnt, in e-cigs. Assuming this is correct, and it does seem correct, where does the carbon residue come from? As pg/vg is not combustible it can not burn like paper ect. I guess it depends on your definition of burning, and the temperature at which heating becomes burning. Whats left on the coil is mainly down to sweeteners and flavouring. Im not sure if pg/vg leave any deposits themselves, I don't fancy vaping unflavoured 50% vg/pg for a week to find out

It will stop working when the battery runs low, which is what must have happened last night. I don't think its anything to worry about. It has a switch doesn't it, that turns it into charging mode? Im sure if you weren't supposed to vape when using it as a charger, they would have made it so it wouldn't fire when the switch clicked over to that setting.

I must be the odd one out. Ive not had to pay anything on 2 orders from the states and 5 FT orders. Ive probably just jinxed myself now and will be hit on the order I got on its way now.

A spinner 2 is going to be just like the twist. If you want something that's going to last longer then its a choice of MVP or something that takes a 18650 battery like the vamo or zmax or something like that. I think the mini's will look a bit odd on the vamo type mods but should look good on an MVP.

Hi igual welcome to the forum. You've made a good start there and progressing at a fast pace. You've made a good choice on the batteries, they are about the best you can get. I don't know much about the efest charger, many like the nitecore intellicharger or xtar chargers, but im not saying the efest is bad as I don't know it like the others. If youre planning on going lower than 1 Ohm then you will need a resistance checker that can measure below what the mvp can. They also make a nice platform to build and wick your atty on. If you run into any problems setting up your mech, just ask on here, there are many who will help if you need it.
