Hello, welcome to all those who joined after my hiatus, and missed you alll to those who were here before. I've not been on the forum for a while, but that is changing as of now.
My past. My better half and myself were smokers for about 15 years each. The advice and encouragement of people on this forum helped us quit the stinkies. After about 5 years I came to the conclusion that a kraken with a decent mod (preferably a nemesis) was the ultimate setup. I just spent too much on other mods and tanks and nothing matched this setup.
My present. My wife and myself are in good health, but my brother who was a smoker has recently suffered a heart attack. I want to spread the knowledge of vaping I have to others who can benefit from it.
My future. I'm settled on my kit, on zero nic menthol vg juice. But would like to help others off the nic addiction.
What can I help with? Well, mixing, tanks, mods, mechs, drippers, nic reduction, batteries, building, support and anything else you can think of that I can answer. This forum has given me a lot and I want to give back. Feel free to ask anything you want.
As a final bit of background, I'm a 6 year vaper with a degree in electronic engineering who wants to offar any help I can.

For the last year or so I've bought ........nowt apart from our usual concentrates, VG and a litre of nicotine. In the days of yore I was buying any mod/tank/dripper around but now the appeal has gone. I've tried so many of the latest and greatest tanks and none of them can dislodge my kraken clones, no drippers have given me more than you plume veils and mephisto drippers. But now, finally I gotta buy a new charger and mod. Our Nitecore I4 is dying. 1 bay is dead due to neg post breaking, and I've been reduced to using our kangertech subbox mod. Any recommendations for a decent charger and 50W+ single cell mod? By default was thinking of a nitecore d4or its current model and a sigeli single cell mod. Any other decent options?

Been to Boots, superdrug, poundland, savers, semi chem, home bargains etc and cant find menthol crystals anywhere... any idea wher to buy them on the high street? And as an aside, can they be dissolved in VG (or AG) reliably?

Well as far as tanks go, all I'm looking for is more replacement glasses for krakens, still the best tank ever made, but as long as I can buy glass tube the correct diameter it's all good. I did put in an order for 1 litre of 7.2% nic but that will do the Mrs and I for 2000 30ml eliquid bottles, probably more as we'll drop nic levels even more in the future.

Helooo all you Edinbuggers. She who must be obeyed at all costs and myself apologise for our absence for the last while. We're in the process of trying to save up some cash to move form a fully furnished place to an unfurnished council rent in order to save on rent (to the tune of about £150 a month) and to let us furnish and decorate the way we want to. This has unfortunatly left us skintypoos, broke, pennyless and otherwise short of piccies of the Queen. We wil try to get to a meet this summer (July hopefully). Each meet costs use about £40 out of pocket before we set foot in the pub so we cant really afford it for a while, but we will try. So much bloody furniture and appliances we need to buy, plus the extra rent to cover our 2 month notice period where we'll be paying double rent. Pinky really needs a night out so I'll do what I can, even if I need to live on instant noodles for a few month. Miss you guys a lot and hope to see you all soon. Can't believe how out of touch we both are with current vaping developments. (yup, we both still love our krakens, mwahahahaha). Awrah best and see you al this summer we hope.
OOh, me noticed a new person taggeed, lesley. Hope we can both meet you soon. If you havent made it to a meet yet I can assure you that striker, taz, gill, macmagoo, verey and the rest are a great laugh. It's definitly worth the trip.

Been using chefs vapour(flavours) for a long long time. So sad to see they have discontinued two concentrates the Mrs and I enjoyed stand alone (pink lips and green lips) and one which is an integral part of our ADV, tigers blood. All from their rebranded range. Does anyone know an alternate source for these concentrates? The jungle juice is the one we really need a replacement source for.

Do... -Use a reputable cell such as a VTC3/4/5 or sammy 30Q ,20R or 25R. A list has been posted elsewhere on the forum. -Always check the resistance of your build before uuse to ensure there are no shorts. Mechs don't have the short.low res protection that regulated mods do. -Make sure all your threads and contacts are clean, or you'll encounter increased voltage drop and poorer performance. -Calculate the current draw of your build and make sure it's at least 20% lower than your cells max continuous discharge rate. - Always lock the device when you place it in a pocket/bag/purse etc. - Remove the cell when the mod is going to be out of use for a while -Read these forums for more advice, as I'm a few beers in and probably forgetting something important that I take for granted.
Dont -Try to eat the mod - Break the above rules - Store it beside a lady friends toys - EVER, EVER, assume that your build is OK without checking it - Assume that the spring or magnet installed will be strong enough to prevent accidental firing when stood upright.
As for choice of mod, a good nemesis or caravela would be my choice, with a stingray close behind. Also, I would love to get my hands on a good quality phenom clone or original.

You could try shellac then a wax finish. This gives you the choice of a white (clear) shellac or a darker shellac for a warmer finish. If you opt for an oil, steer clear of linseed oil. It takes too long to dry and you'll need at least 5 coats (2-3days drying per coat). I personally like teak oil as it doesnt give to much sheen. Tung oil looks great, but agani has the drying time issue and needs around 5 coats. It's also harder to apply properly. The budget option is to use mineral oil(baby oil is the same stuff with some fragrance added so it's dirt cheap). It'll provide a similar level of protection to your wood as the other oils mentioned.

AS Q and Bob stated the sammy 25Rs are great. I've had no reason to doubt their authenticity or grade after extensive use and testing. Also give the sammy 30Qs a look if you pull a lower current draw. (they are rated to 15 or 16 amps but have an extra 500mAh over the 25Rs)

Gennys still produce the best flavour you'll find short of a dripper. You name it and I've tried it, but still always go back to my army of krakens. A genny build lasts for aeons when done right. Generally, I'll recoil my krakens about every 6 months, and rewick every week (with cotton wicks) or every 3-4 months with SS mesh/rope. A genny can sit with some juice in the tank or sit empty with a build no problem. I've had gennys sit in a cupboard for months with a half full tank and no problems have been apparent. The big thing with gennys is to find what wicking you like. Traditionally they have been used with SS mesh or rope, but the various types of cotton or silica are options as well. These days I find myself using jap cotton most often. 11 wraps of 0.4 kanthal (dual coiled) gives a 0.5 ohm build that is fantastic with thinner than usual cotton wicks at 30-35 W. Just be aware that your cotton wicks MUST be thinner than you normally use to prevent the cotton swelling and causing choke points in the wick holes. Another plus of a well built genny is that they never flood or suffer from RCS(rice crispy syndrome - snap crackle and pop) & You were doing so well 'till then!!!! It's just because my ADV tastes better with a cotton wick. If I were to vape anything else in a genny then mesh and rope would be my go to wicking. If only people would master genny building they would have the most faff free vape ever. A little aside for all tanks, (especially the kraken). Screws and washers get gunked up through use and are a pain to clean due to the small size. Mr Coca cola and Mrs Pepsi and uncle Barrs cola (sod it, you aint drinking it, cheap own brand cola) are great for cleaning up small parts. We all know the effect they have on a tarnished penny, the same applies to our little parts. Give them a cola bath when you are looking sorry and you;'ll get some shiny parts back.

+1 for sour happy cola and also capella cola concentrate as well. On the cola cube topic (but off vaping) stivvys do a fantastic cola cider (available in aldi) that is liquid cola cubes - the old ones with the soft centre, not the lame new cubic turds that you generally find.As for premade liquids, I've found that quite surprisingly the dekang cola is very palatable, but the high og ratio puts me off it these days.
