The Crackling dosn't bother me! even more so now that it seems it's a good coil if it does, it's like a Rice Chrispie moment every time I toot, but it was bothering the Mrs and she said it was getting on her nerves, well! first off it didn't go to well when I said you get on my nerves so we are quits, but I found the cure for her when I said fine I'll go back to smoking again, she hasn't mentioned it once since, I Win, Neil! thanks for the offer but i'll give it a miss for now, I ordered loads of stuff from FT, so much I've lost track, I have my stuff, stuff for my son in law and stuff for friends, I know there's some wire and pre-made wires in there but can't remember if they are mine or someone elses, it's all good because they all think I know what I'm doing, they don't know I get all my info from here, Mow,,,

Thanks Greg! I'm waiting for a couple from FT, no doub't by the time they get here there will be a new updated version, still I suppose if you work it out it's only the cost of 2x 20 cigs eack one, even if I get a couple of months out of each one it's still cheap, someone here will probably pull one apart and find a fix, you know what they are like here!

Right first ever photo so bare with me! The top bit is the outside wrap, I pulled it apart to try and see what it is, looks like cotton but smells like burnt paper when you set fire to it, different smell to the bit of cotton wool I set fire to, The one below is the inner wrap, tears like paper, looks like blotting paper, smells like paper when you set fire to it,, I've no real idea what either of these wicks are made of, but one thing I noticed is when I set them on fire, even though they are around 10mm x 25mm the fumes hit me right in the back of the throat, It's a shame that FT don't tell us what they use for wicks in their coils, Mow,,,

Snow! I ordered some to try a while back and although the flavour and vapor were quite good I found they made the draw too tight for me, so I'm going to pull them apart and re-coil them the normal way, more spare coils, I've just taken a new one apart, mine had two sheets! one looked like cotton and the other looked like blotting paper, I pulled the cotton one around and although it looked like pressed cotton strands when I set it on fire it smelt like burnt paper, totally different smell I got from the cotton wool I set fire to double check the smells, the one that looked like blotting paper I could tear in half like paper, I got the same result when I set it on fire, burnt paper, I still have no idea what the wicks are, but they certainly smell like paper when you set it on fire, that and the fact I have no idea what the wicks are made from is enough reason for me to give them a wide berth, I like to know what my wicks are,,,

Greg! a bit off topic, But I've now heard a couple mention the same problem with the insulator, do you think one of those bending adaptors would stop the problem, as the atties fits in the adaptor and not the battery 510???

Mike! not the same as yours but the last FT own coils I got for my ProtankII's tasted rank, I took all the advice given here soaked them, boiled them tried everthing but they were still rank, and they are the reason I just got into re-wicking, I changed a couple of wicks for cotton wool and they were great, which makes me believe there's something wrong with the wicks FT make, personally now I would only buy the Authentic ones from them, the authentics are a bit more expensive but work out cheaper than a box full of ranks coils you can't use,, on the upside I have 20 spare coils to re-wick,,

Still learning all this stuff, But I have noticed a change between inside and out vaping, since it's got colder I've noticed my juice goes a lot thicker outside, the flavour and vapor drops quite a bit, back inside it goes back to normal, it was fine all summer so it can only be the juice, perhaps the answer is if you vape outside a lot you need to thin the juice a bit, I think I saw here someone using a few drops of vodka to thin it so maybe that would work,,

Lets! apart from the fact I had my normal glasses and my reading glasses on at the same time to see the dam thing it was quite easy, the hardest part was keeping both pairs of glasses on, I'll have to get one of those magnifier stands, it's hard at first to work out how much wick to put in but I found plenty of info on Youtube,

WhooHooo! got two on the go now, I won't mention I blew two coils on the other two though, don't know what went wrong they blew on a dry burn with no wick and nothing touching, both showed the ohms at 1.9 but they blew when I fired them up, now I'll have to wait for the Wires from FT, what has suprised me most it the difference in taste, I never worry aboout clouds just taste, I had some Blueberry and Menthol that was rank and I only use to clear vapors toungue, it has far too much menthol for me, I tried it in the new wick and for some reason it's calmed the menthol down and it's now quite pleasant, just blueberry with a hint of menthol,

Neil! give us a chance I'm only on my second one, at least the wife is happy now, not only will it keep me busy so I don't spend my time winding her up because I'm bored, but it's going to save even more money, she's now moaning because it crackles a bit with the re-wick, I can't win, I now need to sort myself a mini tool kit, so at least I'll look like I know what I'm doing,, Mow,,,,

Ok not mind blowing for you lot but a biggy for me! after some proding here I decided to have a go at re-coiling my own coils, Ok I'm cheating a bit as I've ordered pre-made wires from FT (still waiting) and I ordered some Japenese cotton pads which came today, opened them up and Whoo! they sent me Duff pads as these have loads of little black specs in them, quick Youtube look and they are seeds and normal, silly me! anyway the other day I had a go at just re-wicking one of my ProtankII coils with normal organic cotton wool, was a bit of faffing for my fat fingers and dodgy eyes but I did it, I couldn't believe the difference from standard coils, more vapor, 200% better flavour, anyway looked at these pads and thought it would be hard to re-wick with them, Iguals vid and a few Youtubes later I had a go, it was so easy I really don't know why I never tried it before, removed the old wick carefully, did a dry burn to get the crud off and the ohm test, all ok, rewicked, put some juice on, yup! even paid attention not to dry burn cotton, re-checked the ohms all good, juiced up and left the MVP for 5 minutes, couple of pre puffs, then into the main ones, first thought Err! not all that, better than standard, plenty of vapor but can't see why everyone raves about the Japenese cotton, about 5 toots in it started, the flavour really came through and I'm getting it on the inhale and exhale, so now I know what all the raving was about, it's the Dogs, I'm going to have a try at making my own coils when I eventually get my RBA,s i'll just use pre-made wires for the ProtankII's, if any of you beginers are scared of re-wicking, re-coiling don't be! trust me if I can do it you can, just listen to the advice given here and you'll be supprised just how easy it is, and the best bit is not only will it improve the flavours of you juice and give you more vapor, its cheap and will save you a small fortune, it cost me less for 100 premade wires and ten cotton pads than it does for five standard coils, so thats 100 coils for under £5.00
