Like I said Mike! after trying the FT ones in my Protanks and getting the rank taste from them I'll only buy the originals from now on, but why not just buy five to try, at worst you'll only have to do what I did and re-wick them and you'll you have spare coils so no money wasted, Mow,,, Thanks mowjo I'll get some when I next order and post the results. Nothing ventured ... etc (and they are considerably cheaper)!

There's only 7 reviews on FT but they're all positive/good!

Thanks for all the help and advice guys but in all the fun, we seem to have digressed from the original question. Is there anyone who has tried or has anything to say about these "universal dual coils" which are much cheaper than the standard dual coils? Or is it a case of: "If it sounds too good to be true ...?" I guess the only real way to find out is to go and buy a few and see how they go. Unless someone has already tried them and can give a review? Fits Kanger Aerotank, Protank 3, Mini Protank 3, eVod 2, T3D Universal Pack of 5: $4.47 Authentic Kanger Dual Coil Pack of 5: $7.29 Here's the link again.

Take a look at this thread to unravel the mysteries of volts, ohms and watts Many thanks OneDay

mikemichelle if you're using a VV/VW mod, it really doesn't matter much which ohms you go for. Unless you are using the lower settings, in which case the lower ohm coils generally won't let you get down that low. My limited understanding, in very layman's terms is that if the ohms and watts resultant voltage, using ohms law, is lower than the actual voltage of the battery, it will default to the battery voltage... I think Errrrrm thanks for that lairey (I think)! I'm going to experiment with a couple of different sizes and suck it and see!

That's just what I was thinking! Another dummy question: which is "hotter" - 2.0ohms or 1.8ohms? Is it the higher the number of ohms the hotter things get? The lower the number the 'hotter' the coil will get if you're using a constant voltage. Many thanks for sorting that out in my head!

Ok thanks ... I'll give it a whirl! At £1.41 for 50 coils you might as well order 2 or 3 different resistances and see what you like best. That's just what I was thinking! Another dummy question: which is "hotter" - 2.0ohms or 1.8ohms? Is it the higher the number of ohms the hotter things get?

Personally I prefer a 50/50 solution. I buy these pre-wound coils and bung some cotton wool through them. Easy peasy, cheap as chips, and taste great. That's a great idea. I'll definitely get some of those to supplement the supplies whilst I'm dithering! Hi OneDayI noticed your pre-wound coils are 33AWG, 2.0ohms. I'm a bit ignorant on the techie side of things but from some of the videos I've seen on YouTube, people seem to be using 28 or 32 Kanthal and 1.5ohms - 0 1.8ohms. Can you (or anyone else) advise me what would be best for me? I have an assortment of gear but mainly use a Kanger Aerotank EMOW (and occasionally Mini Protank 3) which is designed for 1.5ohm coils. Would I be better using 2.0ohm coils???

Mike! not the same as yours but the last FT own coils I got for my ProtankII's tasted rank, I took all the advice given here soaked them, boiled them tried everthing but they were still rank, and they are the reason I just got into re-wicking, I changed a couple of wicks for cotton wool and they were great, which makes me believe there's something wrong with the wicks FT make, personally now I would only buy the Authentic ones from them, the authentics are a bit more expensive but work out cheaper than a box full of ranks coils you can't use,, on the upside I have 20 spare coils to re-wick,, Mow,,, Yeah ... I've had no problem with the authentic Kanger coils form FT (oh except one duff one in the box which didn't last 5 minutes). I'm trying to get in the mood for some DIY but keep thinking I'll stuff it up! Nothing ventured nothing gained I guess!

I've not tried them, but I would give them a shot. Try one pack with your next order. Last time I got coils from FT, I bought two packs of non-Kanger vertical coils. I only needed to try 2 to realise they are only good for the bin. You win some, you lose some. For £2.90, I would try them... (I don't know which tanks they are for though, so hopefully someone will come along and tell us... ) They do different types of universal coils. The link above was for: Kanger Aerotank, Aerotank Mini, Aerotank Mega, Protank 3, Mini Protank 3, eVod 2, T3D, eVod Glass. There's different ones here about half way down the page. I still haven't had a go at re-building my own coils yet so I'm indicisive about trying the universals or trying some DIY!

Hi guys, I've just been rummaging around on FastTech (as you do) and noticed they do "Universal Dual Coil" units. Take for example a Mini Protank 3. You can get the normal authentic Dual Coils 5 pack for $7.29. However, they also do this universal dual coil thingy which will fit the Mini Protank 3 for $4.47 for a pack of 5. What's going on? Obviously at first glance it seems a no-brainer to go for the much cheaper coils. Has anybody tried these universal coils? If not what's your advice please? I'm all for getting a cheaper bit of kit but not if there's some catch that I haven't noticed. Comments and advice please guys??? Oh here's the link: Universal Dual Coil Unit for Kanger ClearomizerThanks in advance all you wonderful people!
