Hi again Guys,
Well I've chewed my fingernails up to the elbows (plus smoked endless rollies) as I wait with bated breath and trembling trepidation for my EVOD 2 Starter Kit to arrive. I've never been able to give up smoking before and I've always thought I was a hopeless, terminal case. The possibility of life without fags has never existed and I'm still trying to imagine that very first suck on the EVOD - and whether it will "feel" real and hit the spot!
I keep reading over some of the inspirational stories and experiences in the forum from those who have "cracked it" and managed the transiton from the stinkies to Vapour World! If I really do manage to break the rollie chains and start life afresh with the EVOD, it will prove 2 things: 1) There is a God and 2) miracles do happen!!!

Miracles do indeed happen mikemichelle I used to smoke on average 50 cigs a day I also thought I'd never be able to experience life without smoking. Do think of the Evod as a starter kit & maybe just aim to cut down to begin with? It's one of the beauties about e-cigs, there is no pressure to completely quit straight away, some folks do, others don't but cut down drastically. Just take it at your own pace & enjoy the vape

mikemichelle - if you are the same as the vast majority of vapers on this forum, it will work. A few things to remember as you begin your vaping journey. 1) - you will find that you need to vape in a different way to smoking. A long slow draw rather than a quick suck will give you a better sensation, and once you have drawn the vapour into your mouth, roll it around and then inhale to your lungs slowly rather than a quick 'snatch' otherwise you will have the mother of all coughing fits. This happens as your body adjusts to the PG/VG combination of the vapourised juice rather than tobacco smoke. 2) - you can get all the nicotine from your vapour simply by holding it in your mouth - the mucous membranes of your mouth will strip the nicotine out of the vapour as effectively as you lungs, so if you find that inhaling does make you cough, use this method until you are a bit more used to the sensation. 3) - PG in particular will dry out your mouth and mucous membranes, so make sure you take frequent sips of water to keep yourself hydrated. 4) - you will find that your new toy will probably cause you to over-indulge, so if you start to feel queasy, get a headache, or feel light-headed, just stop vaping for a half hour or so until the feelings subside. 5) - you will sometimes succumb to the 'nic-cups'! These are normal as your body gets used to a new nicotine delivery system. Enjoy, and keep us posted with your progress. Most of all, if you have any problems, ask as soon as you want to, there will always be someone 'on duty' to answer any queries you may have!

I'm sure you'll take to it like a duck to water lol! I was always able to give up anything in life except the fags but vaping changed all of that and I haven't looked back or wanted a stinky since I switched in Feb Vaping is an exciting world so it's not just a change of habit, it's a whole new hobby or shiny obsession lol There is always something to keep it interesting, especially if you hang around here

If an ex Fag Ash Lil can do it . . . so can you mikemichelle. I simply loved to smoke preferably as many as possible in a day to my shame - never did I think it possible that I'd be an ex-smoker, never. My friends are stunned, like myself that here I am over 4.5 years later never having sparked up in that time. I've simply not been tempted. But! Don't put yourself under pressure as has been said, to switch overnight . . . Good Luck!

Thanks so much for all the advice and encouragement guys! I don't think I could/would have done it (ordered starter kit) if I hadn't come across this forum. So big thanks to each and everyone of you. It feels like I've got someone to hold my hand being in this forum and although I'm still waiting for the EVOD to arrive, I certainly feel more positive about giving up the stinkies - more so than I've ever done in my life!

Good luck mikemichelle and welcome from me . Smoked for 45 years, ending up on about 100gm of old holborn a week, from the day I bought my first kit, nearly 2 years ago I haven't had, nor do I want a ciggy.

I am a chronic nicotine addict and on all forms of NRT my medics were telling me to go back to stinkies within 20 hours. Not so with the e-cig.... I was smoking for about a week every three weeks for 3 months then got my nic levels right and didn't look back You will be just fine and you have joined one of the friendliest helpful forums online mikemichelle. As I said to a smoker outside my concert rehearsal last night (note 2 vapers - one smoker - I call that result ) - it's a whole new world out there - the world of vaping

Hi mikemichelle, and to the forum, you have defo found the best place to get advice and a helpful start on what will become your new obsession. I've been a smoker for 45 years ( I started very young ! ), I gave vaping a go several years ago, but the range and technology we have in our hobby nowadays makes it very easy to switch to. Although all the different choices may seem daunting at first, you will find a set-up that suits you . I 'duel-fuelled' at first, until I got my different set-ups for evening at home, going out, and work devices, and haven't even wanted a cig in the 2 months I've been completely stinky free. Good luck on your start, and there's always someone on here who will know the answer to any questions you may have.

Charge it. Check there's a head securely installed. Fill it. Let the tank stand upright for 10 minutes for the wick to soak and enjoy

Just a reminder that if you are having problems with vaping, let us know, as there are many alternative ways to vape that may work better.
I couldn't get on with clearomisers at all, having dry hits. burns and a foul aftertaste, some coils lasting as little as on hour. I tried top coils and bottom coils but without success. I had to go back to my [very expensive] cigalike with carto's. Then I learnt to refill them and eventually to mix juice to my own requirements. I then got a good carto tank and have never looked back.
Now some Boge cartos and an X8 tank and a good battery and I'm in heaven.
There will be something to suit you but you may have to experiment a bit.

I did it... I was ready to give up after two experiments, first with E-Lites (suicidal) and then JacVapour (slightly less suicidal, but the batteries almost sent me to the loony bin) Chrissie held my hand and the forum surrounded me with I dual fuelled for a bit, then gave up for good.

You can do it you just have to keep thinking do I want to smell like an ashtray!
I was the worst type of smoker " I was a chain smoker " I could easily get through up to 60 fags a day !!!!
My lungs were at bursting point most times of the day and I struggled at the time to walk a flight of stairs without gasping for breath.
Since the day I started vaping I have never wanted or even been tempted to smoke again and now the smell of a fag makes me run for the hills so if I can do it anyone can.
The only part of that rollie that you need is the nicotine so why not get that nicotine in a safer more pleasant way.
If your end result is to quit smoking completely just graduly lower your nicotine levels over time until your at 0mg.
Just wait until you start tasting all the flavours of eliquid out here you will be like a kid in a sweet shop

Around 19 months ago I was just curious about these e-ciggie things so thought I'd give 'em a go. Never even had it in my mind to give up smoking, not after 40 years smoking 30 a day. Didn't ever think I'd be able to give it up, not after trying patches several years ago and ending up ill on the damned things - doc told me to go back to smoking Even being hypnotised 30 odd years ago only gave me 6 months free of the 'ol smokes, soon back on 'em again once a family panic occurred However, once my first e-cig kit arrived and I'd set it up with an L & B flavoured e-liquid @ 18mg strength I NEVER picked up a stinkie stick again. Don't even like the tobacco flavour juices now as well Family, friends & even myself cannot believe I have been smoke-free for 19 months now. And it's brilliant Sooooo, I'm sure you can do it mikemichelle once your kit arrives, good luck but I bet you won't need it, it's easy peazey on these e-cigs I'm telling yer
