Hi mel and welcome from me too. As you say it's early days but I'm sure you can do it. I used to almost have a panic attack at the thought of not smoking at all (having already cut right down) but mid December 2013 I resolved not to buy any more cigarettes and haven't had one since. E-cigarettes have moved on so much since I started dabbling with them in 2012 that I'm still trying to get my head round everything too, but I did upgrade in January and that has really helped. I'm 100% certain I couldn't have done this without the e-cig ! Take care and sorry to hear about your mum.

keepitgoin - I tend to vape either tobacco flavours or fruit (at 18mg) (I like apple or orange) and I'm about to start on some DIY'ing as juice is pretty pricey in France and most only seem to go up to 16mg.

Having joined the forum 2 years ago and only lurked since then until posting in another thread just now, I thought I'd better say hello properly ! Bought my first 510s in January 2012 but didn't really make an effort to stop the cigarettes completely until December 2013 (by which time I was down to 3 or 4 a day). Anyway, on 19/12/2013 I smoked the last one in a packet and resolved not to buy any more. I did have cravings, particularly first thing in the morning for a while but I'm over that now and have recently acquired 2 iTaste VV3s (which for me are great) and my 510s are consigned to the drawer as emergency back ups !

dibbylou - I suspect using a family member's address is about the only way round it. I don't know how much they do in the way of verification mentioned above or what the implications would be, but it all sounded so official when I read the regulations I was a bit worried about doing it. I'm still thinking about it though !

Dibbylou - I'm in the same position as you and the person who posted the EFVI on ECF asked the organiser whether or not I could sign it. Here's a copy of the reply :
not good news here is the official answer from the EU:
Given the respective requirements set out by the United Kingdom and France in Regulation (EU) No 211/2011 on the citizens' initiative, a British citizen residing in France cannot support a citizens' initiative.
The Commission proposal for a Regulation proposed uniform requirements for all Member States, which would have enabled any European citizen to support a citizens' initiative. The diverging requirements of the Member States set out in the final Regulation, which are due to the different data required by the respective Member States in order to be able to verify the statements of support submitted by signatories, have the unfortunate effect of preventing some European citizens from giving their support to a citizens' initiative. The Commission is aware of this issue and has, on several occasions, asked the Member States to re-consider their requirements to lower as far as possible the number of citizens concerned, including after the adoption of the Regulation (the requirements set out in Annex III to the Regulation can be modified by a Commission delegated act at the request of the Member States concerned).
So basically France and the UK have different criteria for signing an EU initiative (a UK citizen requires a UK address and a French citizen requires a French ID or passport number) and as I have neither a UK address or French ID/passport number, I can't sign it.
Yet another example of the great EU at work !!
