If you need a NO 1 use an empty 4 pint milk bottle cut top off and invert making a funnel ( camping trick we used for littleone and the Mrs ) then just pour it in garden , alot less conspicuous than squatting with ya keks round ya ankles lol. Thanks igual, that's genius, and there I was about to go and water the flowers eau naturelle, lol Where's Bear Grylls when you need him?; doesn't write, doesn't answer my calls ... hmph!

What about pic of you in your wellies lol haha ... they're invisible magic wellies ie I don't actually own any. What a surreal evening ... water suddenly everywhere, thought I was going to be launched into space; had to answer door to first workman with bright pink toe separators on as had just painted nails while waiting; hallway carpet has now deceased, is no more; talking poop with the drainer man ... What set it off was me being conscientious in doing washing, extra good kitchen tidy, etc. That'll teach me! Oh well, at least it's getting sorted a.m. so shouldn't happen again.

If you have insurance try to get a few photographs. It's good to have evidence to show the adjuster. They will try to wheedle out of as much as they can. Glad you got it sorted though. Thanks Bobsbeer Unfortunately I don't have insurance. With being housing association rented, I'm hoping I might be covered somehow, but I may not, after reading some properties have to pay into an insurance scheme, which I hadn't realised. Will give them a call in the morning. Welcome to my hallway carpet, lol (it's in the binbags) ...

lol haha! Don't, I nearly wet myself, and I can't go do one, lol! Well that's one way to get your feet wet even if you are wearing wellies lol haha Thankfully, the guy's just been, but he was a drainer, not a plumber. I can't flush the loo or use sinks, as wherever water's flowing, it's leaking out of the giant pipe in the cupboard. He said they'll have to remove the concrete around the base, as the fault may be underground, and they'll turn up before 9am. Excellent service, for real. Don't have to go out under the moonlight now at least, lol. Just need the wellies on to clean up the tide now, lol

If this guy doesn't turn up tonight, I'm going to have to sneak out after dark into the garden, lol. No liquids right now, for sure. And neighbours all have dogs, so, joy of joys, if I sneak out they'll all start up, lol.

Somehow managed to roll it all up and top and tail binbags on it, but water's everywhere, dripping under binbags, so I'm not sure how to get it over the good carpet in the front room. If I tape it up though, that should prevent the pathogens? until I can get the floor and outside of the binbags dry.

When it comes to clean up gloves and a mask hun, sewage water has some nasty pathogens when its dried, damp on carpet. Thanks igual Appreciate advice; I'd not have thought of that. Just becoming more aware of the smell; really pleasant, lol. The guy should be here soon. Thinking I should put the carpet outside now, while it's fresh. Will do that!

Glad to hear it wasn't the boiler & there will be someone to fix it tonight Thanks Chrissie. Yes it's a relief, for sure. Council's just called to confirm the guy's on his way, and to be sure I don't miss him. Not going anywhere, lol, so it should be fixed very soon. Can't imagine they want to be working much later than now themselves.

The boiler should have an isolation valve for the water. Turn that off if you can find it. Failing that do as jess says and turn off the stopcock. Usually under the kitchen sink. At least you will limit the damage from the leaking water. Thanks Bobsbeer I'll remember that for another time, as I really wasn't sure what to do ... turning off the electrics certainly calmed me, lol. As long as I don't use the bathroom, there'll be someone here to fix it tonight, which is really good. The hall carpet is wrecked though, and will really smell soon. Some other clutter I need the council to collect, so may end up that happening, if I need to arrange for carpet collection. Looking on the bright side.

Go switch off your water, kittyvape, if you know where the stopcock is. I feel for you & hope they are quick to get to you & repair it properly. Thanks jess Appreciate advice. Thankfully someone has turned up quickly, and they were surprised it wasn't the boiler, as the water has leaked all along the 3 cupboards. When he emptied the right hand cupboard, containing the waste pipe, it clearly was that. At least someone's on their way now that can fix that.
