Hi, water's leaking out all along the 3 hallway cupboards ... central one contains the boiler. Water's reached bathroom too, and at doorway of kitchen. Carpet/underlay no doubt ruined. Have called Erimus, as I rent, and they're sending someone tonight, which must mean there is serious risk, eek, as that's the only way they'll send someone out ... "An emergency repair is classed as a repair that could have a major health and safety risk to the occupants or cause serious structural disrepair to the property". Didn't say to turn off electricity or go outside, so maybe I'm overworrying, but then I doubt they care if I end up splattered on Mars, lol. It's an all-electric property, and just wanted to check if there could be any possibility the boiler could explode. If not, at least waiting for the guy to arrive's a bit less stressful. Seriously hoping they can cover the carpet though.

Shouldn't explode kittyvape however I would turn it off at the mains or on its fuse on your service board until they've had a look at it.

Thanks prr Was just googling and literally have just done as you said, so the heater can't try to heat up a tank with little or no water.

Go switch off your water, kittyvape, if you know where the stopcock is. I feel for you & hope they are quick to get to you & repair it properly.

The boiler should have an isolation valve for the water. Turn that off if you can find it. Failing that do as jess says and turn off the stopcock. Usually under the kitchen sink. At least you will limit the damage from the leaking water.

there won't be any kitty in space, lol, as it's a blocked waste pipe. He's calling a plumber. Yay. Can't use the loo, so I'll have to find a bush outside.

Thankfully someone has turned up quickly, and they were surprised it wasn't the boiler, as the water has leaked all along the 3 cupboards. When he emptied the right hand cupboard, containing the waste pipe, it clearly was that. At least someone's on their way now that can fix that.

Thanks Bobsbeer I'll remember that for another time, as I really wasn't sure what to do ... turning off the electrics certainly calmed me, lol. As long as I don't use the bathroom, there'll be someone here to fix it tonight, which is really good. The hall carpet is wrecked though, and will really smell soon. Some other clutter I need the council to collect, so may end up that happening, if I need to arrange for carpet collection. Looking on the bright side.

Council's just called to confirm the guy's on his way, and to be sure I don't miss him. Not going anywhere, lol, so it should be fixed very soon. Can't imagine they want to be working much later than now themselves.

Just becoming more aware of the smell; really pleasant, lol. The guy should be here soon. Thinking I should put the carpet outside now, while it's fresh. Will do that!

Somehow managed to roll it all up and top and tail binbags on it, but water's everywhere, dripping under binbags, so I'm not sure how to get it over the good carpet in the front room. If I tape it up though, that should prevent the pathogens? until I can get the floor and outside of the binbags dry.
