Hi there fellow Geordie, I wish I hadn't bothered buying a kit. It was a good deal from the Alchemists Cupboard, but I found myself buying at least another 20 flavours and other assorted mixing beakers and measuring tubes. I ran out of the VG very quickly and since bought more PG/VG from Classikool and some great mixing equipment from Creamsupplies. I thought the kit would save me the ball ache, but in the end I just ended up buying more stuff any way.

It's £34.99 here and the replacement coils are £4.99. If I can find a dizzy code I might be able to bump it from the "I wants it" to the "I'm avvin it" pile.

phtumshk is a bit of a fanny on at first I admit, but I just love TC. Coil life is drastically improved too. Make sure that when you first fit any atomiser and the box asks if you have changed the coil that the coil is at room temp. That's where the box will set the datum resistance. The chip will then chuck enough extra oomph at it to get it up to what it thinks is 170 deg C more. If the coil was at 200 to start with things will glow brightly and (terminal)popping sounds will probably be heard.

A change of mods appears to have improved things. The evic mini appears to be more plug n play and is vaping like my regular Kfuns to a point. The odds are still on me being back on A1 by tea time though lol. Thanks all for the input. Looking at your settings on steam engine, 10 wraps of 0.3mm Ni200 to get 1.2ohms requires an internal diameter of 2mm. If there's room, try fewer wraps on a bigger mandrel. Like VapingBad so expertly puts it, if you want vapour you need loadsa wicking surface.

None of this helps our man with his lost fiver.
I can set my wattage up to 200W, now there is a pre heat setting where the MOD will supply monster wigglies to the coil until it detects the resistance is within 5% of the set value then it backs off to maintain the resistance value which is related to the temperature of the coil.
The trick for me is getting the MOD to accurately track the temp/resistance values. At no point does the MOD actually sense the physical temperature of the coil, it merely assumes that for a given rise in resistance, there must be a relative rise in temperature.
Technically everyone is right, you can alter the wattage in temperature mode yes but after that initial surge, the watts are controlled and limited in my case, to between 10 and 15W by the MOD.

Unless this puppy actually gets worse with steeping, I will be making 250mls at the very least next week.

Mind you that's the thing with TC, once the chosen temp resistance is detected the MOD auto backs off the watts. Have you definitely got the Nickel setting chosen on the MOD?
