yorkshireman - they are basically two different ways to inhale your vapour.

MTL (Mouth-To-Lung) is essentially the same as smoking tobacco; you inhale the vapour into your mouth then draw it down into your lungs when you have a good mouthful.

DLI (Direct Lung Inhale) is similar to a 'reverse whistle' - you inhale the vapour directly into your lungs by opening your throat and drawing the vapour direct from your device, rather than holding it in your mouth first.

DLI became popular with the advent of sub-ohm tanks which work at resistances of less than one ohm, meaning the coils heat up more quickly and vaporise more juice. For this reason, DLI-ers like myself vape much lower nicotine levels (3mg for me, and many others too), as the volume of vapour inhaled is increased so the nic needs to be lower or else all those nasty side-effects will manifest themselves.

The tanks for DLI vaping need a larger airflow as the coils are heating up more quickly and the air flowing over the coils helps keep them cool. VG levels in the juice are higher too, which helps if you want more vapour production.
