Hi All, Thought I'd ask for advice on what to get... I'm (obviously) new and have been using the 10 motives rechargeables for the last week or so but after my second battery running out this evening and only an analogue to replace it, I've decided that enough is enough and I'm going for a proper one. So the question is... What should I go for? My preferences (although I'm sure I can be swayed). I'm not that bothered about an auto battery as I seem to waste a fair bit of juice just building up enough steam so I think manual is the way to go. I like the smaller form factor of the "ciggy" style however if you can convince me otherwise I'm sure I'll crumble (and as mentioned I'm already annoyed with short battery life). I'd like the option of direct drip 'cos I'd like to try some fruity flavours but not have to fill loads of cartos with a litre of juice just to try them. Also I'm quite choosy with smellls so I imagine a load will be thrown out of the window. If possible I'd like to be able to use the cartos/batteries from the motives as back ups/spares although if that's money down the drain then so be it. I already have the SD KeyRing ordered as I'm pretty sure that will combine with the stuff I have already and besides everyone need a e-cig in their pocket. I'm thinking 3 batteries minimum. Are Riva batteries overheating still an issue (I read something in a post earlier). Not bothered about a light at the bottom, my intention is to be able to use it anywhere/everywhere (SD Keyring being the stealthy backup). Cartos, or carts + attys - I'd like to spend a day a week filling up stuff and that's it(ish) what would suit me best? Or both, clearomiser? Finally VG PG... Explain Thanks in advance (Oh, I've started an order with Vape escape so if I can get a big order and get everything there I'm even happier). Oh and I like silver Glad I kept it short

I have Rivas and Ego's too, no problems. I'm not much help re dripping and cartomisers as I'm a Vision woman lol. I use carts just for tasting. PG gives a better throat hit and VG gives more vapour and most juices tend to be a mix of the 2. Someone with more experience will probably be along soon Welcome to the forum

Hi there, and welcome You already seem like you have a good idea what to buy I can't help aboout the 10 motives compatibility I'm afraid, but the SD Keyring is a 510 thread so will be compatible with any other 510 Riva/Ego I've not had any problems with my Riva battery overheating, the Riva starter kit from Vapeescape is really good value and many forum members have bought it and are very happy with it the kit comes with both cartos and a clearomiser so you will be able to make up your own mind which suits you. VG in juice produces more vapour and PG more throat hit, most e-juice is a mixture of both. Best in the beginning to buy small sample bottles until you find what you like best I'm sure the Riva comes in either stainless steel or chrome, much the same as silver

Welcome firinblanks. The linked riva kit is a great step up ( and away ) from a cigalike.

Hello & welcome Firinblanks For starters, how many real cigs have you been smoking a day? if you are a very light smoker, then a ciggie lookalike might be OK for you. You can buy atomisers to direct drip with for any 510 kit you go for. I'm not sure what the thread for the 10 motives rechargeable is compatible with. Hopefully someone else may know. Only ever heard of a few cases of Riva batteries over heating & I think some of the cases were due to user error. Cartomisers/clearomisers are your best option for filling in advance. Especially the Vision ego type clearos. PG (propylene Glycol) gives more throat hit & VG (vegetable Glycerine) gives you more vapour.

Blimey, I didn't expect so many responses but keep 'em coming Chrissy, I'm on (well I was on) about 20-25 Silk Cut a day, although currently about 1x 10-15 carto and 5 cigs a day.

Sounds like your doing great already firin I would still recommend the Riva kit as a step up for you at the moment. Once you get that and then get some liquid you like it won't be long until you cut out those 5 cigs, if that's what your aim is

Yep, what you buying for your wife? lol Your list looks good, but I'd be wary of buying a 30ml bottle of liquid at the moment until you know what you like. I know it's cheaper to buy larger bottles, but not cheaper if you don't like it Personally I would get some more sample bottles! If you do buy any liquid though that you don't like, you can always sell or swap on the classified board EDITED to add, you forgot CODE!!! 'allabout' for 10% discount
