??? Hello All, Got to this site as recommended on ebay. I have read a few of the threads on here - well done to all those that have succeded!! I have tried eveything to give up over the years and never got past 3 months I love the taste too much but am soooo fed up with the decor in my home being brown everywhere! Got my new starter kit - The Tornado complete with cartridges - it doesn't say what strength they are, or at least I can't see it. Cig is all set up and have looked at the video to see how to smoke it. The thing is this - I'm not getting a kick out of it, doesn't seem to have the umph I like from a normal ciggie Is it the cartridges, do you think I need something stronger? or maybe I won't get the taste/ umph as from a normal cig? Any help & advice most welcome - many thanks in advance Irene

Irene,
Welcome....I'll say hello properly later, but to get you started - the Tornado comes with pre-filled carts. They DO say on them, none, low, med, high. The highest would be like a 18mg strength. So try that one to start with. It depends how many/what strength you used to smoke. I bought a kit and some 36 mg juice from another supplier (more about that later), so you may not be getting enough of a hit, or it might not be strong enough. Look for the printing on the cellophane wrapper and try a high one.
Did you charge the batteries? You need to put the atomizer on the battery, then the cart. Hold the button down just before you lift to your mouth, then suck as you would normally for about 4/5 seconds. See how that feels.
It is all a learning curve, and you will succeed with the help from here.
Have a go of the above and get back to us if you have any more problems. I suspect the "juice" isn't strong enough for you.
For me, it's just the same hit/taste/vapour as smoking.
Good luck
Kath -x-

I second everything Kath has advised. Lots of our members have the Tornado (as you've probably already seen) and newbies who've gone straight from smoking to vaping with that model have got on very well indeed, so if Kath's tips don't work, we'll have to work out if there's a faulty component (unlikely). Keep yer pecker up and keep trying scylla

Hello & welcome Irene I third what Kath has advised I wonder if you have put one of the low or zero cartridges on? As Kath says, they are marked with the strength, it's shown on the plastic wrapping the cartridges come with.

cough,cough...splutter!
Ah now that's better.
Thanks I didn't know there were different strength cartridges, the instuctions could do with a bit of work on them ...imho
So I have 4 x high strength cartridges but have a feeling I am going to need something a bit stronger, maybe I need to get some juice to try??
I have been a 20+ a day for 40 years and could easily smoke more if I could afford to

Try James's 24mg Benson Fences, LnB, or Cigar Not to be a one-upper ( moi?!) but your modest smoking history and habit bodes well for ease of conversion scylla

OK - thanks.. Been reading more in the forums - Damn you lot are good So have I got this right.. I need to order 'juice' (story of my life!) 20 Cigarettes 0.9mg nic = 18 mg Nic per day - you need 1ml 18 mg Juice or 2 ml of 9 mg juice I should order 20 to 30ml of e-liquid with varied taste to try 2 drops 9mg -=one ciggie so 20 cartridges needed per day?? I need to have / fill 20 cartridges? blue stuff - what's this ??? Do I need to cut foam or can I just keep adding my juice to the cartridges I already have? I am lazy :-[

OMG Irene, you've really studied this haven't you?! Much of it is over my head, we didn't have all these percentages and mgs when I started To start out with, just buy yourself a 10, 20 or 30ml bottle of Highish juice - 24mg would be quite high without blowing your head off. Your existing cartridges (carts) can be refilled umpteen times, you can rinse them under the tap and blot them dry to reuse them when they get "dirty" looking. Just buy the minimum juice to practice with, and don't worry about it. I recommend James's Benson Fences or LnB, several members like those baccy-type flavours. James will sell you a little sheet of blue foam - you cut a little rectangle (come back when you've got it, then get instructions) and replaced the original stuffing, it is longer lasting and holds juice better. You can rinse and re-use that too, you won't forever be chopping up foam Have I left anything essential out? Don't think so, except CHILL, and do NOT worry about exactitudes Look in jimmybat's signature for a link to his shop. scylla

Irene, I'm also impressed As Scylla says, go for some juice from James. They are good quality at a very good price & you will get tons of vapour/flavour/throat hit from them. LOL I guess most people have sussed that I really do like James' e-liquid

Irene,
A proper hello from me now, stick with it girl and you will be a true vaper in a few days time.
As the others have said, get some juice from James. I tried both L&B and Benson Fences to start with, 5ml bottle of each. Then I ordered the big 60ml bottle for £22 of Benson Fences and stuck with that since.
I use the 36mg because I used to smoke 40+ a day of John Player Special.
You don't have to have loads of carts filled. I have been using the same one over and over for the last 3 weeks and just take it off, drip a couple of drops in, for every cig I used to have. It's so easy and not a problem to do.
I have kept the same one, because I got some blue filler from Jaki (before James sold it) and it's been a bloody godsend, I haven't washed it, changed it, prodded it or anything.
I also use Low Resistance atomisers because I like the bigger hit. I must be having so much nicotine now, but I don't care! I'm not annoying anybody, and don't have the baccy smells I used to have!
I have a Riva kit, a Tornado kit, some LR atties, a bit of blue foam, a big bottle of juice and that's all I need.
I did have some problems at first, like most newbies do, but suggestions on here solved them all.
Sometimes new atties have "gunge" on them that tastes vile, but once they have "burned in" are fine after that. Sometimes I overfilled and drowned the attie so it didn't burn good. But now I think I have most things just so and know what I am doing.
I still occasionally smoke normal cigs (analogues) but I don't chastise myself, or consider myself a failure. I've cut down more than 80%, so have already saved a fortune and feel the benefits to my health, and sense of taste and smell.
Everybody on here helps everybody else, and we have a laugh into the bargain....and sometimes even a bit of "marriage guidance"!!!

Once again, completely agree with Scylla, that is a fantastic post Kath, thank you. Because I have been vaping for over 2 years, I can kind of forget some of the obvious, simple things that new vapers would find so useful to know about. And that is why it is so good & so important for newer vapers to post about their tips, experience, advice etc Once again, thank you Kath

Aww...blushes with delight...why thank you kind ladies. It's just I remember how it was with me when I first got mine, and no-one to ask at the time what to do as I was away for a week from the day it arrived. I soon figured out the basics though as we were in non-smoking accommodation! I didn't want Irene to give up before she'd started properly. I think us "newbies" panic a bit when it all arrives, it looks a bit daunting. The basic thing is to "stick it all together, then in your mouth and give it a go". Luckily I had the Riva, so HAD to buy juice to start. Otherwise I would have been disapointed ifI'd picked a Low or None cartidge first off! But it's much better to learn "on the job" as it were and pop in here in case of problems. Kath -x-
