Hello again all you helpful people. I am still waiting on my starter pack so all my posts are a bit on the research side still. Think I read on a post here that empty carts mean empty!! Whoops, of course silly me I have ordered empty carts thinking that they were just empty of juice not filling. Read on another post that you can fill them with Fluval. Went to pet shop today and discovered that you can't get fluval in Greece lol. Bought something that I think looks like fluval and it is snuggle nest, the cosy nest for small rodents. Its a natural vegetable product which is digestable and feels and looks like flock so I am going to try this when I get my kit. Another question which may be easier answered is: how do you carry a 510? Vertical, horizontal, battery side down/up? I only ask this because I suspect that the wrong way may dampen the battery although the batteries I have ordered are manual rather than automatic. Many thanks in advance. Ken.

Hi Ken, not sure who is around who certianly knows far more than me. But, will attempt to answer a few questions -as a two-week newbie, and if I get it wrong, an expert will come and correct me (I hope!).
Empty cart frm my understanding means empty of Juice. My Riva came with 10 carts with fluffy stuff in - looking like white polyester cushion filling. I had then add juice.
The Riva has a battery with a button on it. To make it work and heat the atomiser, you press the buttong for 3-4 second whilst heating/vaping. Thus, I assume that you could put it in a pocket, bag or whatever, and inadvertently be pressing on the button and thus draining the battery.
I recall doing something similar with a mobile phone once. I hadn't turned it off, and it was sat in my bag, getting depressed every so often, for whatever reason. When I finally got my phone out to use it, there was no credit left in it (It was a Pay as you go) because I had apprently phoned my bank (the landline, not a mobile number) 46 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No credit left, battery flat, and hadn't phoned or spoken to anyone! Pretzel or what?
Hope some of that helps you. But as I say, I am sure one of the experts will be along soon to explain it all somewhat better than I can. xx

Ken, Hanow is right. Empty carts do come with stuffing but no juice. What you may have read is that when you buy new atomisers they come with a completely empty cartridge attached to them.
I don't think it matters too much which way up you carry your e-cig but IMHO it is best if it's cartridge end down. Just to make sure that if it's overfilled the juice doesn't run through to the battery connector.

Many thanks Hanow. For a two week newbie you have the knowledge.
Thanks for the confirmation Chrissie the extra stuffing I have bought will be a good experiment when the original gets manky.
((((xxx)))

I'm not hopeful that that will be any good, Ken, because being a natural material I don't think it would withstand the heat. Fluval is fish tank filter material - maybe you can get that? Perhaps others will know I'm wrong, let's hope so In any case, you can wash your original filler when it gets manky (rinse it clean and dry it on a cloth or kitchen paper), so you won't be bereft in a hurry scylla

Got to admit I hesitated posting my concerns about what you bought Ken. It may be OK but Scylla is right, you do have to be very careful about what you stuff your cartridges with.

Thanks Scylla and Chrissie for the info. Had a look at the stuff I bought again and looked at one of your video clips and it looks nothing like fluval so I won't use it. I have ordered spare carts so I should have enough to do me for a while. Originally I thought the carts would be empty of stuffing but as you have told me they have stuffing in so the problem is solved. So far checking with pet shops here that keep fish I have had no luck. They do sell the fish tank filters but no fluval. Its not a problem as I am going back to Ireland to see the family next month and can get some there. Thanks again for being so helpful. Ken.

Ken, James is now selling the blue Fluval filter stuff for 50p each sheet, you just cut it to size. If you're stuck you could always get him to post it to Ireland for you ready for your trip.
The filters that come with your Riva will last a good while. I'm still using the original filters 3 weeks later and I've got some that I haven't opened yet so you should be fine.
I tend to carry my Riva and store it upright, haven't seen any sign of leaking at all. Occasionally I have inadvertently hit the 'button' but that's normally when I've got the ecig in my hand and I'm doing something else.
Like Hanow, I'm still learning my way around. Although from 3 weeks ago when I didn't know a battery from an attie, I think we've learned quite a lot. Shows how easy it is to get into once you know what you're doing.

Thanks for the tips Designer, much appreciated. I don't think I will run out as I have ordered 20 empty carts. I will be ordering some things from James when he returns from his US visit as I want to try some of his ejuices and as you say it would be better to get them delivered to Ireland. All my chat here at the moment is in theory though as until I receive my order I won't be sure that it will work for me. I might even hate it. (only joking honest) Ken.
