Flying ants seem to all appear at the same time on one day only, they fly away, mate, and then disappear. It is pretty gross when they suddeny all emerge from the nests though

So annoying when you meet people who hardly ever get bitten. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the sweet vape attracting them in either the air or maybe the blood I dunno. I've been told drink lots of tonic water as they don't like it. It effects the taste of our blood? I've never tried it that said but would like to know anything decent that really works at preventing them biting!

Garlic puts the bitey things off . . . trouble is that you can put everyone else off being near you as well.

Round about here, the bitey things have had a late start but seem to be making up for lost time at the moment. I was standing in the one spot for too long on Sunday, photographing a passing car rally, and found red ants had crawled up my trouser legs and started biting me, the little sods. The midges aren't too bad at the moment, but other flying things are having a field day. I look forward to heavy rain to knock them down in the evening.

Yes such stuff would work, but I absolutely despise DEET, no wonder it keeps the buggers away. I will use it under protest in an area with malaria, but I'll be buggered if I'm putting that crap on myself in my own house..... Rant over lol

DEET is a chemical found in some insect repellents, it's without doubt the most effective thing, but it's a nasty chemical, very bad for your skin and it smells awful, I hate the stuff but have had to suffer with it when I've been to places with malaria, the jungle formula juice you mentioned has high levels of it

Oh ok........Doh! I knew that....sorry it's been a long day...lol! When you've paid a small fortune for a fishing trip.. there's nothing worse than having it spoiled by midgies.. hence.. jungle juice.
