Morning all Ok, I understand these questions have probably been asked a hundred times before, but i've been a bit overwhelmed by all the info etc and just have a few things I want to ask that can be answered all in one place. I'm on day 3 of using my e-cig, last night I started to feel really rubbish (I don't know if this is coincidence since i'd woken up with a sore throat anyway) but anyway, I started to feel quite nauseous and had a headache, felt achy etc. Could this be the result of the e-cig? While i'm thinking about it, i'm going to reel off a few question that hopefully someone can answer for me If you're using empty carts with your own liquid, what's the usual amount to put in it? How often do the filter bits need changing? Are my sense of taste and smell going to improve, if so when will I start to notice a difference? Am I going to feel fitter? (i'm only really doing this for the health benefits and not for financial reasons) Do any of you find that you vape more often, or for longer than if you were smoking a real cigarette? Is there really no risk of passive smoking to others? For those of you that have been vaping for a long time, do you ever get an urge to smoke a real cigarette? Has anybody succesfully quite nicotine for good after using an e-cig, and if so was it easier than the other methods you've tried in the past? Should I tell my doctor that i'm using it? I'm up for a health check soon, and I don't know whether I should tell him or not, since I don't know what the health proffessions opion on them are? The reason I ask is because I do eventually want to be nicotine free, and hope to do this with the help of Bupropion (Zyban). Where do I get me one of those ticker thingmabobs? That's all

I'm on day 3 of using my e-cig, I started to feel quite nauseous and had a headache, felt achy etc. Could this be the result of the e-cig?Yes, you could be overdoing the nicotine, for one thing. What e-cig have you got and what cartridge/liquid flavour/strength? Also, coming off tobacco can cause a reaction, you are accustomed to dealing with 4000 chemicals/toxins, they've suddenly been withdrawn. Or, you could just be "coming down" with something If you're using empty carts with your own liquid, what's the usual amount to put in it?You drip into the stuffing until it appears wet on the surface but not overflowing, obviously. You may like to squidge the stuffing with tweezers or a paperclip commandeered for the purpose. Sometimes when the vape weakens you can just reverse the stuffing in the cart, the other end may still be wet. How often do the filter bits need changing? When they get very discoloured, brownish. You can wash them and blot them on clean paper/cloth, let them dry, roll 'em up and reuse - if you are thrifty or skint Are my sense of taste and smell going to improve, if so when will I start to notice a difference? Some people's improve within a few days, it depends on you. As for me, my 5 decades' smoking have ruined both smell and taste, I think I'm quite damaged Am I going to feel fitter? There are no silly questions on this forum, I'm told Do any of you find that you vape more often, or for longer than if you were smoking a real cigarette?I can't answer for others - I chain-smoked and I chain-vape... most of the time. But I find that if I''m in the kitchen I have to have my e-cig with me, but I forget I've got it Unbelievable! Is there really no risk of passive smoking to others? Now you're getting scientific! I will go out on a limb and say that there is NO significant risk. For those of you that have been vaping for a long time, do you ever get an urge to smoke a real cigarette?Fleetingly, maybe when I see someone on TV take a satisfying drag. When my SO visits and smokes, I find it horrible to be near. Has anybody succesfully quite nicotine for good after using an e-cig, and if so was it easier than the other methods you've tried in the past? Here I can speak for others - YES and YES. Should I tell my doctor that i'm using it? Why not? He may not know what you're talking about, you can explain it's nicotine replacement. Some docs are supportive and impressed. I do eventually want to be nicotine free, and hope to do this with the help of Bupropion (Zyban). Why would you want to take that drug? You won't need it, you simply gradually reduce the strength of the nicotine in your juice. In any case, don't look too far ahead. Some of us enjoy vaping so much and feel so much healthier and happier that we don't want to stop Where do I get me one of those ticker thingmabobs?I'll add a link in a minute... here it is: www.smokewithoutfire.co.uk/eCigSavings.html#That's all Hmmm, you're not very inquisitive, are you?! scylla

Oh Scylla, all your answers where brilliant Just thought of one thing to add. I know that some people have not only gone down to zero nicotine in their e-cigs but have also gone on to (quite easily) giving up vaping as well. Yest before trying the e-cig they hadn't been able to give up smoking.

Fanks I bought the 901, it had the prefilled carts with it, but they were bleugh! Luckily, I also bought some B&H 15mg liquids and empty carts at the same time, so i'm using those, and they're ok I also bought a syringe too, so I figured i'd fill it with 1.5 ml in the morning and make it last the day (I was a bit worried about ODing) My OH smokes too, but he's more than willing to try these, I ordered it without him knowing and told him the day I started using it, he's dead impressed and i'm going to order him one tomorrow. The thing i'm finding the hardest is the mornings, i'm sure like most other people, I can't funtion in the morning withouit a fag 1st, and I seem to be craving even more so since I started using it, but it could all just be in my head, and I do feel right as rain as soon as i've vaped. The Zyban thing was kind of a last resort, but it seem the lesser of two evils when it came to that and Champix. I did see the eBay thread when it appeared a couple of years ago, but like many others I expect, I was cynical. But having tried it, I am really surprised at how well it's working!!

Welcome Junctional.
As one of the original vapers, I can honestly say that I believe I will never smoke a real cigarette again. I find the smell of them quite nauseous; I can walk into any shop and detect immediately the staff that smoke. I am embarrassed to realise that for all of my adult life I have stunk.
Believe me, I smoked more than 40 Benson & Hedges a day. If the e-cig works for me it will work for anyone.
They can be temperamental little blighters, but it is easy to master them - one day they work the next day they go on strike. Good Luck.
