Its firmly stuck on and I can't unscrew it, I don't have any pliars handy either. Also the carts don't screw even screw onto it. So it renders my vv battery useless

Have you any WD40 Sg? Maybe a little squirt of that might help?

Have you got an elastic band handy? Try wrapping that around the adaptor to give your fingers more grip

With screws that are stuck/are hard to unscrew if you tighten them a quarter/half a turn before unscrewing they 'unstick'....
I don't know if the same principle could be applied in this instance.
(Disclaimer, I often don't know what I am talking about)

Don't use your teeth, could prove very costly! I have a cheap pair (flea bay) of jewellery pliers and an elastic band to use in these instances

teeth? yikes, no, definitely don't go there! . elastic band is a good trick-elastic band wrapped with kitchen towel then a jewellery plier/adjustable bicycle bolt thing is even better.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, but no luck so far. I tried some wd40, the rubber band, but its firmly stuck. I'll have to borrow some pliars off a friend to try, apart from that I've learn't not to screw these adapters all the way!

is there any slots in the top of the adapter... if so try pushing the adapter down hard into some soft wood and twist keeping the downward pressure
you could try trapping the adapter in a door at the hinge edge between the door and frame... you will only need to apply a small amount of pressure to hold the adapter tight... beware if you apply too much pressure you will damage the door/frame
another way could be to wrap sellotape very tightly and neatly around the adapter to increase its diameter ...you will need to add quite a bit but this will give you extra leverage
if that fails then wrap selotape around and around the
