Not sure what you mean Tim. Do you mean is it OK to delete the occasional post since the people involved in the thread can usually infer what's missing?

...nooooo, I mean is the person ok who deleted the posts? ie. concerned for their well being and welfare.

They replied to my post stating they have had similarities to what I had gone through, which would indicate a poor state of mind, may have been upset, or depressed.

Was just concerned that's all.

Wasn't dreams - it was a guy - he'd replied to a post I did and was the only one who had before I hit the hay - just can't think of their user name - I think it began with a V?

They had just stated that "the post has stuck a chord" and they had felt similar.............

Didn't actually know about Dreams, until about 10 mins ago

Ahh what a shame you've had to do this Chrissie, I've deleted my own posts in the past mainly when I've put something in the classifieds, and no-ones taken me up on it so I've had a rethink a few hours later ,shame the few have made it impossible for the many to change their minds .................. Like Kuro I hope the modify button stays I like changing my posts when the syntax/grammar isn't quite right or when I pure and simple forget to include something IMPORTANT!

It's a shame it's had to come to this but am quite glad as have been well and truly confused by some posts lately!!! Every other forum I have been a member of has allowed users to edit their posts within a certain amount of time but not to delete!

Sorry, I took a wrong turn at the first pronoun in your previous post - I thought by "they" you meant deleted posts, and then I have to admit I read the rest of it too fast. Stick grasped by wrong end. :-[

I've deleted the odd post on occasions when I've posted something and regretted it, because it was the wrong answer, heat of the moment, stupid, (whatever) so I can see a possibility that it could cause problems with genuine reasons for post deleting TBH.
However, I don't believe it should be (or have been rather) abused or used just because the option is/was there.

It's the same old story, sadly Anne . . . the minority who abuse a facility, spoil if for the majority who play the game.

But, there's absolutely no need for anyone genuine to feel ' stressed ' about the removal of this, I don't think there's anyone amongst us, who hasn't posted something and then thought, why the b hell did I say that.

I know I certainly have.

If you don't feel able to remedy your booboo by editing your post, drop one of us a PM, we're not ogres . . . we don't wield big sticks and any reasonable requests will be dealt with.

All we'd all like to see is a harmonious forum as far as is humanly possible, with some lively discussion, that everyone feels happy and comfortable posting on.

Most forums i have frequented allow you to delete a post, but you have to give a valid reason and the mod then decides if it's okay or not, in all honesty that's how I reckon it should be.

as for Dreams she did go a bit over the top, but in all honesty is a 7 day ban really needed, i know on various gamer forums, which are known for their hostility eg VN boards, you really have to have go some to get a 7 day ban.

It's all relative though Ciar I'd suggest . . . there were maybe other factors that haven't been made general knowledge on the forum as to why the action that has been taken, has.

It's not a measure that Chrissie, or any of us undertake lightly . . . you'll just have to trust our judgement on this.

That's the point though Ciar, this forum has never really had any hostility on it and very few disagreements until recently.

It has always been an exceptionally friendly place to be.

Fair enough, im not querying it, as you say i don't know the ins and outs I leave the mods and those in charge to make those decisions, honestly was me just wondering ;-) as for the friendliness of the forum it's the best forum by far that I have used in 14 years of using the web, that's a hard thing to say hehe.
