Hi guys,
I bought the Riva 1100 kit from VE, and an Ego 650 batt, but I really prefer the look and feel of the Riva battery (the button's much softer!) and I was wondering whether there were any less visible differences between the two (makes/models/brands??) and whether or not peeps preferred one over the other and why?

I have an ego dil has a riva, apart from hers being pink, her riva batts take bloody ages to charge, and as such i reckon they are knackered, they have had about a quarter as much use as my ego's, which charge in a couple of hours, and have been faultless.

Someone (maccafan?) took some to bits and posted that the Egos had thicker wiring and seemed better quality than the Rivas. But my memory isn't the best.

The main problem with the eGo's though is that they are regulated at about 3.3volts - the Rivas start at 4.2 and gradually reduce. While they are good batteries, I personally need a bit more oomph than the eGo gives. Now the eGo Twist is another matter - great batteries

I like the feel of the Riva button better, also it's 3 quick presses and it's blue...I'm a big fan of blue The ego button leaves imprints on my fingers and is a lot more hassle to switch on/off, also if I'm walking down the street in bright sunlight I find it difficult to see the white light and see if I've switched it off. So I find the Riva a bit more user friendly. I don't understand the technical side of batteries, but I think when it comes to stability or such the ego is supposed to be better. I know the ego twist for example can handle very low resistance coils, whereas the Riva can't or shouldn't. The Riva is basically a copy of the ego, but I do still use my one surviving Riva quite a lot and like it

its difficult to say as there are so many clones around you dont really know what you are getting ...unless of course the vendor can verify its original
if they are indeed original units then the main difference is the eGo is regulated to give you a consistent 3.3volts through the battery charge while the riva will give 4.2volts fully charge but will then dwindle down as the battery drains
which is better?.... YOU decide (done in my best bigbrother impression)

I was steered away from the riva, due to quality of the batteries and the lack of low resistance usage Very happy with the eGo batteries, and the twist is great :-) I was very suprised to see how popular the riva kits were afterwards, still, can't complain :-)

Hmmmmm, int'resting... I think I may have to get the Ego twist (purely for testing purposes lol), though I may wait for a week when I haven't bought anything else... The ego I have has already been passed on to a willing convert So, is the Twist much better than the variable voltage ego (which switches between 3.2-3.7-4.2) then?

I own both Nick and in my opinion the Twist is better, although my vv egos are passthroughs which can be very handy

The Twist is the better battery out of all the Ego's, only downside to them is i find they're bit too long for using outdoors. Proper javelins for outdoor use, I prefer the Ego upgrade battery, they're quite a bit shorter than the twists.. www.vapeescape.co.uk/joyetech-ego-c-650mah-upgrade-battery~406 they work more like a mod, ie, start off at 4.1v fully charged, just have a bit more oomph than a normal Ego. The Riva's I have are just the same as a normal Ego, run at 3.3v.

As stated above, for this style of battery the Ego Twist leaves everything else behind. The ego is regulated at 3.3v so you need very low resistance atties to get a powerful enough vape, on the plus side though your vape will be the same from fresh battery till it needs re-charging The Riva freshly charged will push out 4.2v and will steadily deplete in power output through use which means that the vape will be pretty weak and in need of a re-charge long before it gets down to the power output of an ego, they also have weaker electronics and wiring inside which renders them vulnerable to the high drain required from low resistance atties.

For those that are considering the Twist and are put off by the length (I was) have a look at my review HERE of the new Vapourhut VH2 Twist battery. At Vapefest Vanessa and Amanda each bought a 650 one in nice colours and they loved them, and they are so much shorter. Mine fits nicely into my fist and is 900 mAh. It works fine and seems to last OK but I've not thoroughly tested it as I've just bought a Provari mini (my Precious) but I've been using my Twist tonight and it's going great.

Interesting to know about the Riva starting at 4.2v, I don't think I've noticed a change in the vape from fully charged downwards, but I'll keep an eye on it...
That VH2 twist looks interesting too (and fairly cheap!), the size of the ego twist was making me umm and ahh a bit...
Decisions, decisions...
