At the moment, I have a 2 way USB 12v cigar plug. the folding camper has its own 120Ah battery and so I could vape on one USB outlet with a pass through, while charging another battery at the same time. Can anyone tell me does the pass through battery, once fully charged, have the same capacity as a standrd 1100 battery? I've had one of THESE for ages and it's never missed a beat, I use it at the computer in pass through mode, so can vape while charging also as it is a battery it does not matter that most USB supplies are 1A maximum (too low for vaping) as it is charging the battery which supplies the higher current needed for vaping. Use the code DESLF10 to get 10% off and give me a bit of credit or ECR69 for a discount. It also has the advantage of being a Variable Voltage device so you can tailor your vape.

I know you're really after a third battery however I had to add if you're away from power for a while I find these really handy www.amazon.co.uk/PowerTraveller-Explorer-Solar-Charger-Device/dp/B001W031KI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346347429&sr=8-1They're 2200mah so will re-charge your Ego twice with some to spare, however as there is an additional solar panel, you can recharge the battery through the day to top it up between charges. The solar panel will also charge some very low power items directly (my crappy work Nokia charges in direct sun). Be warned you can't top up the battery with the solar panel and recharge something else at the same time, it's one or the other. The battery also holds it's charge for ages so that's a huge plus point. I've had one for around 3-4 years and although it only gets light use it's not let me down in times of need. I just checked that the USB connector works with both my Rivas and 10 Motive cig-a-like batteries and can happily report it worked a treat.

Hiya lobby - you definitely need at least three batteries as these kind of devices can just suddenly fail. Lots of good suggestions above. The other thing you might like to consider is a basic battery mod - If you get a tube one with a mechanical switch there is very little that can go wrong with it. Of course you need to buy batteries to fit it and a suitable charger, but a decent charger will last you ages as will the batteries and then you have a complete alternative.

Thanks for all the suggestions and I will look into them all. I don't really need an extra power source as I have that both in the folding camper and in the car during the day. What I need is an alternative to the two batteries that came with the Vision 1000 kit. These both have the 3.?v and the 4.?v setting (sorry not techy enough to remember the actual voltages yet), but I just want to be sure that if either my charger fails or one of my batteries fail, then I will not be stuck, especially if I am away on a trip, lying on a sun kissed Scottish Beach (???). At the moment I am drawn towards a second charger plus a pass-through. Although I have no doubt that I will eventually end up with as many batteries and spares as I now seem to have in coloured clearos, bases and heads.

I think this is where a battery mod or a Pro-vari or Lava-tube come into their own, you can have several batteries as backups and have them charged and ready, providing the device itself doesn't die, you just swap a battery over

After much thought and deliberation, I have decided to go for simply a third battery and a second charger, the same as I have at present. I do see that a pass through and the pro vari would have advantages and they are something I will keep in mind for the future, but I don't sit beside a USB outlet long enough to warrant using a pass through and the pro vari would mean carrying another, fairly bulky, charger when I am away on trips. But thanks everyone who answered this topic as I am on a steep learning curve and you have all helped to broaden my knowledge on the subject of what is available, battery wise.
