Hi, there was no negotiation of any price or anything like that at all. Also, payment ended up being direct BT so no paypal fees involved (esp as paypal are hating the vaping community right now). The PM's, and Im happy to post them, were just to see if it was available should Ant not want it. Nothing more sinister than that. If the other buyer hadnt of lowered the tone and made wild accustations, I was going to back off and allow him to buy it (ala disco des thread). For those that are interested, Here is a decent paypal fee generator: paypalfeecalculator.paymentprocessing.cc/

I've been banging on for months, no years, to the effect that all communications re items for sale should take place ON THE THREAD, and only go to PM to exchange payment details - not price negotiation, but PayPal and despatch addresses. And the item should go to the first person ON THE THREAD to comply with the seller's firmly stated terms, one of which should never be "payment by PayPal Gift" - PayPal fees should be factored into the asking price. Sorry, but I'm going to strongly disagree. Who ever is selling an item is the owner of that item and its their choice who they sell it to. The only thing we have on these boards when buying and selling is trust and a seller has every entitlement to choose to buy from and sell to people they trust if that is what they choose to do. And I'm also going to disagree with the hissy fit thrown by the guy that missed the Penelope, a mistake was made yes, but that doesn't call for an established member (Jayjay) to be accused of playing dirty tricks. I think thats very poor form indeed. Having a wanted ad up means that if a person chooses to contact you and offer you the piece of kit you are wanting then all well and good, it does NOT give you automatic rights to said item if one becomes available.

This whole thread got out of hand, thought it was all resolved. I feel bad as I encouraged Jay to buy it so that he could pass it on to someone. That's the point that seems to have been missed here. Jay bought this item only so that he could do someone (anyone) a favour by getting them a Penelope, he happened to find the first/last person who had missed out. A lot of the bad sentiment and accusations that have mentioned towards this forum were out of hand, because the selling methods on other forums were lumped into this forum and it's not the same. After what has happened here I wish I had never encouraged Jay to do this and if I found myself in the same situation, I would be reluctant to do this myself. Who needs all this crap for trying to do a good deed?

It's nothing with Thailand reg. It was just a paypal problem. Please make clear in this point. thats true TK, i was just pointing too the thailand bit so peeps knew what i meant without telling the whole story again. ti be honest i did mishandle the sale but as yours was accepted others were rejected, then yours was rejected on the basis of no uk address on paypal. i then just accepted the first next offer that came along. i mishandled yours badly and dirty burger. i rarely sell anything online as i dislike not selling face to face, then theres the paypal problems ie chargeback for goods not arriving. its fine when you know who your dealing with but if you have never even had an online chat with the person it does put me somewhat on edge. what with that and a deluge of pms and posts from you and others i got rather in a flap. raggy

For the interests of the forum, can this thread be locked?
Everyone has a different view and do we really need to discuss it anymore?

Whilst I agree that the thread has got a bit out of hand, it should be remembered that it was all going along nicely until baconandeggs (or should that be sourgrapes) threw in the accusation of dirty tricks. Those of us who have been here a while and know the levels of trust and camraderie (sp?) will appreciate that jayjay was trying to do the community a favour. Let's not end up fighting amongst ourselves over this - we are a bunch of individuals not a coropration

The only thing we have on these boards when buying and selling is trustNo it isn't, and neither should it be. What we should have is a strict procedure which safeguards both sellers and buyers and which does not invite favouritism, back-scratching, or wheeling and dealing.

AAE-C forum dont and cant offer any safeguards to buyers or sellers... all that can be offered is somewhere for buyers or sellers to display their interests while abiding by rules that can help to install trust
at the end of the day the buyer and seller rely heavily on the trust of each other as such it should be accepted that they can choose who to deal with ...just my 2pence worth

Fine, bring that one in and I will no longer sell here, I own my property and I'll sell it to whom I choose at the price I choose and if I choose to favour a friend when I'm selling something then I damn well will. And before you jump down my throat for that I suggest you check my feedback thread, I always sell fairly and at reasonable prices and what ever I sell is always in as new and more often than not better than new condition and buyers usually get extras in their packages as a thankyou from me for buying an item. This has all come about because a new member had the poor grace to start chucking accusations and throwing a hissy fit because he missed an item, the fault doesn't lie with the seller of the item at all and bringing rules into place to make folk sell to people they may not want to will only result in one thing, and thats members selling their stuff somewhere else.

Sorry Scylla, but we have discussed this in the past in the staff room & this thread really isn't the place to carry on about how we deal with classifieds.
I'm now locking this thread as suggested by Dirtyburger as it's unfair to him & Jayjay & must be like salt being rubbed into their wounds.
