Following from my earlier post (Big Tobacco bets on e-cig future) Where David O'Reilly, BAT's scientific director was quoted as saying, “The vision is for another product which can compete with enjoyment of smoking cigarettes, and e-cigarettes are closest thing on market that meets those needs.” We now have more news relating to BAT and e-cigs: Two Senior figures from BAT (British American Tobacco) have gone to work with SKYCIG. Andy de Caso, the former National Sales Manager at BAT has now become the National Sales Director at Skycig. Also now working for Skycig is Tracy Sutton who was formerly the Trade Development Manager at BAT. www.prweb.com/releases/2012/9/prweb9925834.htmTheir role at Skycig will be to oversee the transition from online and into retail, to drive Skycig into the shops and onto the shelves. These two people are 'big guns' and could have a dramatic effect on the future of Skycig Andy de Caso said "I have been analysing the e-cigarette industry for some time, and I’m hugely impressed at how much it has thrived, especially in recent months. I see this business and industry as a whole as the way forward."Could this be a first stage of a partnership between Skycigs by BAT? One thing is for certain, the recruitment of these 2 means that Skycig means business and are gearing up for a massive expansion from online and into the consumer retail sector uk.linkedin.com/pub/andy-de-caso/10/a3/27uk.linkedin.com/pub/tracy-sutton/40/b23/509

I would not imagine they would come cheap. Skycig must be making some serious cash to employ both of them.

Could this be a first stage of a partnership between Skycigs by BAT? I was wondering exactly the same thing, can't be coincidence.

As it happens, no, not quite right... 90% of users use cig-a-likes - the advertising power of the likes of E-lites is vast, and most folks don't do forums or even internet shopping like we forumites.

Most e-cig users will stick with cigalikes. I was talking to a guy yesterday who had been on them for a year, when I showed him my eGo with a Vision on top he just burst out laughing.
They buy something, if it works (as described) then they stick with it - a big part of the problem is when the description is false (cart=40cigs) and that is when people get frustrated with it.
The battery lifetime thing just isn't an issue to alot of people, they are cheap enough to replace on a regular basis.

The issue will always be this: Consumers are used to buying a packet of cigs, getting their lighters out, smoking it and chucking it away. The ciggalikes are as close to "faff free" as you are likely to get, most will not want to wander round with juice or a recharger (or wicks n wire), they will want as closer experience as they are used to, if not the product won't sell. Most people are adverse to change, give them something with some health benefits and make it as hassle free as a normal cig and you have a winning formula for billionaire'dom

Make you right, Tim. Except where you said 'adverse to change' I'd say 'bone idle'
