After two years of trying to get the doctors to take me seriously, I finally got a varicocele embolisation done yesterday. It wasn't terrible but it's not the comfiest thing ever either. It was a little sad because every time I'd go in about it, I'd say the exact same thing and they'd tell me it was something different every time. I can tell you I'm definately the most tested chlamydia free man in britain because they gave me a test for it ever time I went in about it for two years. Yes doc, I'm pretty sure it's still not chlamydia I was even dismissed from urology with "no significant results" when the ultrasound guy was like, "woah nelly that's one big varicose vein you have in there". No significant results my behind in the end, they admitted the vein they found a year ago was likely the cause and NOW they'd do something about it. So far things seem to be ok so here's hoping my veins wont explode and kill me any time soon I'll also have to wait to see what effect it has on the varicocele, as it may not have much of an effect on it. Mine is rare as it's on the right side when usually it's on the left side over 90% of the time. They went in from the left leg to get to my right side through my abdomen which was strange but it's apparantly easier to do it that way because it's so often the left side that's affected haha and now I have bits of piano wire floating around in my veins I'm so looking forwards to the next time I go under a metal detector to find out if I now I set them off

Is that the end of it now lefty or do you need to go back again? That sounds very uncomfortable, glad it's over and done with and hope you're not feeling too sore now.

Hm it depends if the varicocele goes away with the reduced bloodflow through the veins leading to it. If it doesn't, then I'll have to go back for surgery to actually remove the veins entirely. It could be a few weeks before it really has an effect because the veins need to shrink with the reduced bloodblow before the varicocele will stop being so prominent. I'm really hoping I don't have to go back because it's already been two years of struggling with a really sore swolen testicle and I just hope this will finally be it. The success rate is really high for blocking the veins off this way with less invasive surgery so I'll just have to see really. Removing the vein/veins with surgery is a lot rougher and would have a long recovery time. Sure as anything hoping I aint gotta go back

It's been a few weeks since I got some metal in my veins but I feel great now. I can't believe it took them two years to take me seriously. Without going into too much detail, it was really, really obvious there was a problem with how much swelling there was and that to me completely proved it was the varicose vein causing the problem. I must have gone in about it at least 30 times and you could just see it was seriously bad and very painful. About 20 chlamydia tests and 2 years later I can finally get back to doing things I enjoy! I lost almost 2 stone in weight from just not being able to move much over the last 2 years and I really had no fat to lose then, at all. I lost all my muscle and feel lame so I've been working out like crazy. Really happy! Not only did I quit smoking in those two years, I'm getting my body back too Life! Thanks for the support guys
