Today marks the passing of six moths since I stubbed out my last cigarette. That success has been achieved only with the help of vaping and the great folks on this forum. I had bought my first supermarket-type lookalike early in March with the intention of using it in amongst my fags to cut down on costs. I soon realised that I was using it more and more, so had a very quick look around and bought a Skycig (at full price ). It was only then that I found the ECW forum and Chrissie, who thankfully pointed me over here. Within a couple of days I knew the Skycig could be bettered and, like a lot of newbies, followed the advice and bought a Riva kit. Back then in the mists of time the Riva was coming with atomisers and cartridges, but I again followed the advice and had them swapped for the new-fangled cartomisers Once the Riva kit arrived I knew that cutting down and possibly quitting was within my grasp and on March 27th I had my last fag. There is still an un-opened packet of Marlboro in the cupboard next to my vaping stuff, not as an emergency but as a reminder that I have no desire to open it. I then went through the process of trying masses of juices, finding that many were, at best, merely vapeable. Finally I have settled on a few that I love and I'm going to stick with those. It is important to experiment and re-visit, to trial and sample, until you find the flavours and nic levels that suit you. Over the six months I have also dabbled into the various hardware options. First it was the newly-released clearos - wow what an innovation. I've worked my way through most versions and settled on vivi nova minis finally. I had a passing love affair with carto tanks along the way until eventually Penelope arrived on the scene and she has proved to be the answer I was looking for. I've also bought upgraded batteries and mods, including the Argento, mini lavatube, SDK. I have finally decided that my Provari and a couple of Twists give me everything I need in that department. My message here would be walk, don't run. Appreciate that getting to grips with all this stuff is a learning experience and enjoy each step of it. The financial aspect of vaping is one that confused me to start with - how much could I really save over the stinkies? So, being me (slightly OCD but with child-like enthusiasms) I started a spreadsheet. In six months I have saved something in the region of £1200 on cigs. I have also spent almost that amount on all my kit and juices. If I subtract the odd sales of stuff I've made on here I reckon I'm about £200 ahead of the game. Vaping has become so much more than a means of quitting smoking. It has become a hobby (I even dug out my saw and drills to make a rack for my gear). It has, via this forum, become a new social outlet and support with the help of all the great people here. I feel that I have not only given my health an invaluable second chance but also made some new friends along the way. I thank you all.

Thanks Clutter When I set up my account I was on the way to quitting, and actually quit very soon afterwards - but the name kinda stuck. Most people refer to me as oneday, so the 'surname' didn't seem to matter

Great read Oneday I like the way a complete novice can read your thoughts and get a good idea how it went with you, I feel time has flown since I started vaping,

Top post that, and the "walk, don't run" resonates with me.
I've only been vaping for seven weeks, but the amount I've learned in that time, almost exclusively from this forum, is amazing.
My clearomisers have been replaced with the v3's with replaceable heads and I have a stock of mini and Vivi Novas to see me through the next few months.
I reckon I'm almost certainly in debit on spendings on my new hobby compared with what I'd have spent on fags, but the majority of spend has been on stuff that I can wash and reuse rather than stub out in an ashtray.
I've bought loads of juice, mostly flavourings to mix in my new science lab, or kitchen worktop as it's otherwise known, and am choosing the ones which I'll stick with as I go.
I'm on the hunt for a big battery mod or two, but apart from that I think I'm happy enough with what I have for the time being.
I'm very pleased I finally discovered vaping as an alternative to smoking, and will definitely continue for the foreseeable future rather than use it as a halfway house to a complete cessation of my nicotine intake.
Thanks folks, it's a top forum.

Well done oneday. I found it easy to quit smoking once I found this forum. In fact, Vaping and this forum is now my official addiction.
