Not trying to put a dampener on this guys. But there is a risk of customs/royal mail charges with buying outside EU. Anything over £15 is liable to being hit with VAT and RM charges as we have found to our cost when doing a group buy. Maybe I havent thought this through, I thought the only risk would be 6% import duty, which I had a few years ago when I was importing some stuff. Wasnt aware the RM could get their hand in. They will be coming DHL.

If they're coming DHL I can guarantee you'd be hit for customs and the DHL handling charge.

I'll pick up the slack and take any which are not spoken for, the aim would be to hand these on to interested friends at cost....scoots...

Yes - they'll invoice you for duty - guaranteed, and slap a "handling charge" on - think it's around £12 at the moment.

Robby, I am sure your intentions are good, but putting in a little more research before you post would not go amiss.
I think it only fair to other members on here that may end up being asked to pay more than they originally thought as your research was lacking.
Just my opinion.

I have imported before with a bigger order than this and only had to pay 6% duty on a large box with £240 worth of stuff (no handling charge) containing 25 different items so I do have some experience and it was electronic items (mp4 players etc). I have also imported a lot of stuff lately for personal use, three parcels over £50, so I was not being completely naive. This was last week. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=completed&thread=12164&page=2#247282

It would be very helpful to members.

Robby, when importing from outside the EU, items costing £15+ are liable for VAT + handling charge to the carrier for paying HMRC the duty on your behalf. Items costing £105+ (inc p&p) will also attract duty.
Not all parcels are assessed, but as a rough rule of thumb, you should allow one third of the total cost to pay VAT, H/c & Duty, if levied.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it, but I have had about six parcels from China over £15 in the last two months, nothing paid on any of them, only one had "gift" on the customs declaration on the outside of the parcel. It must be very hit and miss. Lessons learned
