Does yours come off easy Oneday? Make sure you keep that bottom o-ring lubricated with vasseline every time you re-coil. It makes for a better seal and also makes it easier to remove

Does yours come off easy Oneday? It's not easy Sandra, no. To be honest I prefer the knowledge that it's on there good and tight and won't leak, even if it can be a faff to get it off. I find I can push my thumb nail between the base and the body and prise it off that way

Blakey-I do lube but maybe not enough
Oneday-similar what I do but I use a metal nail file, will put more lube on, as you say though, it's good to know it won't leak.

Another member of the RDA appreciation society here - I've got two of them and I'd say they are the best value vaping gear I ever bought. I've tried mesh in them, but to be honest I find I get just as good results with wick. I get mine apart using an old dead eGo type battery - I stick it on that and wiggle it about. Dead battery "pullers" are an extremely useful vaping tool

I put mine on my twist and wiggle it and it comes off easy that way

And kuro, the chamber that the atomisation takes place does indeed play a big part in performance as too does the positioning of the airhole in relation to the wick. Try a 1.6 coil and position the airhole by the centre of the wick and you'll notice a major change. I've got the airhole lined up fine, I think, (although I've got it closer to the top, as per the instructions from Clockworks, rather than closer to the bottom, as you say you prefer) .... it's just making a 1.6 coil that's going to be the problem. I can't seem to get lower than 2.1 at the moment. But I am of course relatively inexperienced at it. Just wondering, though: is it easier to make coils at lower res using mesh? I haven't got round to trying mesh yet.

Shorter wire = less coils = less ohms With mesh, the HARD thing to do is make higher res coils

Might have to get me some mesh then.
Otherwise, is there anything I should change in the following?: I'm using 0.13 nic-chrome wire, and I'm getting it pretty tight around the wick and only coiling it 4 times round. Admittedly, I'm wrapping it round quite a few strands (3 plus 1 that's been doubled back, as you explained in another thread), so I could potentially shorten the wire by reducing the amount of wick here. Any thoughts? Would you recommend lower res wire?

Don't wrap tight mate, just enough so that the coil is touching but not strangling the wick Also, in this attie all you really need is 1 strand of wick to trail into the well and one small buffer section where you wrap the coil. Anything more is unnecessary because the wick is in there with the juice so to speak. 1.3 is a bit thin for the RDA, I would go with a .16 or .2, this will allow for a couple more coils for a more even burn without increasing the ohms of the resulting coil.
Mesh is very simple in an RDA, you don't need to worry about threading it through holes and because the base is delrin you don't have to worry too much about shorting issues, + you can make the thickness of the mesh wrap as thick or as thin as you like. Just make sure that at the point that the coil is wrapped that you oxidise completely.

Cheers blakey, thats all very useful info. Just to clarify: when I said tight, I meant tight around the wick plus length of paper clip, so when I withdraw the paper clip, it's not ultra tight on the wick. Having said that, your comments make me think I am possibly wrapping it too tight all the same.
Thanks for the tips on not needing as many strands as I've been using. I had no idea. (I guess it's because most of the tips I've read on making coils have been for pennies and suchlike. I'll try using thicker wire as well. I do have some 0.16. It's just pure chance that in my trial and error attempts to make coils I've done a better job with the 0.13, so I've been sticking with that.

Just one more question, to make sure I'm not making a stupid mistake: when I say a "strand" of wick, I mean one of the individual strands that can be untwisted from a length of wick. I don't mean a length of (multi-stranded) wick itself.
Am I using the term correctly?
