Graham I really admire you. Not just for avoiding so many cigarettes but also for being honest that it's not always as easy as some of us find it to quit them completely overnight. I'm sure many newbies and lurkers feeling bad about having an analogue will take heart from your experience and keep vaping. to you, sir! Blimey, thank you so much pinkerbell and if anyone can be helped from my experience then that's a bonus. Not wanting to be nosey Graham, but why cant you vape at work? I work for a family run business and all the family (especially the two sons) are really anti smoking and sports fanatics. Now you know and I know that vaping is nothing like smoking but to them I know it would be. I haven't talked to them about it but I'm pretty sure I know what the answer would be and I just wouldn't give them the satisfaction of saying NO to me. Hence the quick vape in the toilet - just like being back at school. Graham

I would go and talk to them about it,as you say they might not like it,but looking on the bright side its showing them that you are making a huge effort to give up the stinkies, they may accept the fact that you will need the odd vape so you dont fall by the wayside and cut you some slack. Why not suggest somewhere that you can vape to your hearts content.Show them your ecig in action, once they realoise the difference i am sure things will be a lot easier. After all,the worst thing is that they say No!If you dont ask you dont give them the oppertunity to say yes.

Well done so far Graham, dont feel bad,a sudden stop from 60 fags was never going to be easy,I dual fueled for months before I stopped completely, sometimes the ciggies got the better of the day, sometimes I went without for whole days,I finally put the last pack down (well tobacco rollies) suddenly 3 weeks ago, unplanned I had just bought the pack of Amber leaf and made one rollie, when suddenly I didn't want to do it anymore, when I look back I first started vaping last Christmas fell off the wagon many times, till I found this site and decided to get better gear and wait my moment, good luck Graham, your moment will come

I'm with Andy on this, "if you don't ask, you won't get".
My father has alway been very anti smoking but is really chuffed that I'm on the e cigs, he's quite happy for me to vape in his house too.
I've also found the more you explain it to people, the better they are with it.
I have a few pack of fags in my house and I know I can have them, if I want them, but it's my choice to vape instead. Knowing I have the choice has helped my will power no end.
Oh and yes, I slipped too (the same as you at around 4/5 weeks in) but that was around three to four weeks ago and beyond a fleeting temptation, I haven't really wanted a smoke since.
As the others have already stated variable voltage might help you here so you can dial up the power to get that extra oomph when you need it.

Graham
I was a fairly heavy rollie smoker and was recommended to use 36mg juice when I started. It did the trick for me and I am now, 18 months later on home mixed 18-20mg. 60 a day is a lot to stop, don't beat yourself up (£300, brilliant)

I went to a friends party yesterday, got my coat on to go outside to vape and was told not to as its not cigarettes. The message is getting through, however I find it hard to vape at work as where I work it would be very awkward to vape in the classroom

Everyone is different and you'd probably be surprised at how many people who use e cigs. dual fuel and there's nothing wrong with that IMHO. Smoking a few fags a day is nothing compared to 60 a day. Maybe a VV like a twist would suit you better than a Riva as it would give you a bit more 'oomph' and some higher strength nic. liquid as others have suggested. Everyone in this forum has smoked and we're all here for the same reason, we're addicted to nicotine. I bet if e liquid was banned and we all ran out of our stash of it, most of us would be would be back on the fags full time.

I'm not going to ask the directors outright even though they are my line managers, I know them, I've been working with them for 15 years and I know that one of them would take great delight in saying no to me - not because it's me but because of what I'm asking, however, the other is a bit more liberal and may consider it.
What I will do is have a word with HR and if she is unsure then she will ask the directors herself and tell me the answer. That way I haven't got to see the glee on the elder directors face when he says no which I'm 100% sure he will but I will ask the question nevertheless and come back here and report the outcome, I maybe pleasantly surprised.
A VV battery is probably the next thing to buy then from what a few folk are saying and at the moment I'm looking at the Twist, Lavatube V4 and the Povari. I don't mind spending the money on the Provari if it's going to help but it does seem a lot more money than the other two for basically doing the same job unless of course I'm not reading it right - can anyone explain to me why the great difference in price?
Graham

Hi Graham
I bought a Twist and within a week knew Variable Voltage was for me and bought a Provari.
If I'm honest a twist has one huge benefit that the Provari doesn't. You can twist the base and instantly change the power, with a Provari you have to click 5 times wait for the display to show "Pu" then click through each 0.1 of a volt, then wait 2 seconds for it to set. Twists are great with new juices to work out what "heat" you prefer it at.
Where the Provari come in to it's own is you can check how much energy you have left in the battery, what ohms you have on your atomiser (great if you build your own coils), has short circuit protection, low battery protection and once you've set the voltage to how you like it, you'll get that from the start of the battery to the end, it's a real work horse and the build quality is so good, I'm surprised that bouncers don't carry them instead of the big old torches.
I would definitely recommend a Twist first however just to see if Variable voltage is for you. I take my twist to work and my Provari stays at home (I know others who do the same).

Graham, just a thought, but hows about giving the directors a link to this forum? They could then even register with us if they wanted to & ask any questions they want to about e-cigarettes

Graham, just a thought, but hows about giving the directors a link to this forum? They could then even register with us if they wanted to & ask any questions they want to about e-cigarettes That would be an excellent idea Chrissie for normal, rational people but alas not these guys, I work with them everyday and for a long time, believe me, they wouldn't entertain the idea. I know I seem to be painting a bad picture of them but I know how their minds work. They are decent enough people to be honest but one thing they cannot bare are ideas or suggestions coming from anyone else apart from themselves. I have seen it so many times with them over the years and with other members of the staff, I'm chuckling to myself as I type this as I can see their faces and response now. I will however suggest this to HR as I mentioned above, I would love to be proved wrong, I really would but I don't think I will be. I will let you know the outcome though whatever it is - fingers crossed eh? Graham
