Graham, your system has probably only recently expelled all the toxins from smoking. Its not only the nicotine in cigs which is addictive 60 a day down to 3 is good. It wouldn't have worked for me because my consumption would quickly have risen back to 60. Out of interest, had your wife noticed that you were smoking? She didn't say that she had noticed me smoking and I'm sure she would have said if she had which I must admit that that was the thing I was dreading when I would walk through the front door. I had already made my mind up that I would confess to her that I had been smoking if she had said anything which was exactly what happened when my Mum asked me. Hi graham, when i read that you had saved the 300 quid in a short space of time i suspected that you used to be a heavy smoker, so it is not surprising that you have some small hiccup's on the journey from smoking to vaping, i would try a stronger juice and see if that helps. Well I'm on 24mg mainly, going to 18 now and again depending on the juice. I always take 24mg with me to work though. I will be looking around for something stronger though to see if that curbs me. Maybe I'm asking too much at this early stage to be on 18-24mg. Graham

Like everyone is saying Graham - don't beat yourself up. I know of one quite well known very long term vaper who still smokes one fag every morning. In your case going from 60 to 0 was never going to be straightforward. If you are looking for a bit more oomph occasionally, as well as using a higher nic juice (Several of mine are 30+mg), you might find a bit of extra voltage helps sometimes - have you got a Twist or a Lavatube? They are both cheap variable voltage options.

Well, i was a 50 a day man prior to 7 weeks ago when i had a rather large asthma attack and wound up in hospital for a 3 day stay, that was my wake up call to quit the smokes and ultimately led me to this site. Since then i have fell off the wagon a couple of times (alcohol involved), i even bought a 10 pack last saturday when away playing County Darts for the day.......... but the good thing is, when i woke up the next day i was straight back to vaping with no desire to have a real cig! 99% of users here are ex-smokers, most of us have been at it for a good few years so it's second nature to us now. The way i see it is that one or two ciggies here and there aint going to make a major difference so don't beat yourself up about it On another point, the Provari has made a big difference for me as has finding a liquid i absolutely adore (pixie pineapple juice), cranking the voltage up at night while relaxing watching tv etc gives me far more satisfaction than the smokes ever did......... and it smells far better Good luck mate!

Mate this is the exact same for me. The next day I have no desire for the 'morning' cig. Alcohol is a bloody nuisance sometimes, but we can't stay cooped up in the house all week. I would go crazy.

Is it Hifistud that uses up to 45 mg occasionally, and 36 mg most of the time? Can't recall where he said he got them from but they are out there, most sites do 36mg Graham, have a go, nothing to lose. I'm gonna come straight with you, When you joined I truly believed you were going to struggle, not because I know you, not because I think you are weak willed, but because
1. You smoked 60 jps blacks a day 2. You went onto cig lites. 3. You compared everything vaping to cigarettes
I'm probably gonna get called on this but I think you're going about it the wrong way, yes I understand that everyone is different, but I think you need to change your angle of attack on the matter, change your attitude in that vaping isn't nor never will be smoking. Understand that they spend billions a year devising new methods to keep you hooked on cigarettes. I'm not going to preach how good or bad a boy you have been, you know all that because you have posted, you have my support for telling us but as I say I'm not surprised. Have a chat with Hifistud and see how he gets on with the high mg stuff. Stop beating yourself up, have a fag and rethink your strategy.
Skwoddy out.

Graham,im not suprised you had cravings, you were obviously a HEAVY smoker.I have found that i vape a LOT more frequently than i smoked a roll up.I dont wait for that craving to hit,if i feel like a toke or two, then i have them.It also helps when you find a REALLY good juice.I am "addicted" to 2,Alba's Swedish Fish and Grant's Vanilla Custard.I usually have the Vanilla Custard after the evening meal as a desert Vape and then swedish fish as my regular most of the day vape.I guess i now go for the yummy flavours rather than the nicotine hit,i even gave myself the Nicotine shakes a few weeks ago by vaping too much Fish!!

Hifistud, AKA Dave Dorn, is an e-cig personality and you can contact him here. He is a regular presenter of a few VTTV shows and if anyone can give you help on what is the best way to get the most out of your vaping gear, then its him. Meanwhile, you have done very well to cut so many ciggies out, and not one person can criticise you for the occasional fag.

Don't beat yourself up, as you haven't started smoking again, you fancied a proper smoke, so did. Vaping isn't a miracle way of kicking the weed, but it does help folk to cut back & eventually stop. If I'd been on 40/60 a day, I know I'd be struggling now.
So give yourself a chance & a pat on the back for the cigs that you've not smoked.

Ditto, just think how much further you've got then if you'ed tried the NRTs. To get down to that level is brilliant.

Thanks people, you've really helped me along today. You're right. I have been a heavy smoker and for a very long time too so I am asking a lot of myself to do what I wanted to do and that was to pack up completely - overnight.
Skwoddy, I think you are 100% right in your analysis and was a brilliant post. So I am going to have a smoke when I want to and not feel bad about it, I think in these early days and my smoking history then smoking say no more than three a day (in reality it will probably be less) then that will do me more good than fretting that I can't have one. I still won't be smoking the other 57+ a day I would have smoked so that's fine by me.
I haven't smoked today even though my OH wouldn't have minded but I have been vaping virtually constantly since I got up this morning which has helped me not need to smoke. One of the problems I have is when I'm at work I can't vape so I nip into the toilet to have a crafty one but that's not obviously enough to keep me satisfied for 8 hours so of course when I leave work I gasping, hence I think this is when I think I need a cigarette.
Anyway, now I know what and how to solve it then hopefully I'll be able to control it better, I'm going to allow myself a maximum of 3 a day but no more - I won't need more - and when the I feel the time is right I can decide to cut down to whatever I feel comfortable with.
I think it's obvious (for me anyway) that I can't just can't stop smoking completely just yet, that's no big deal, I realise that now and that really helps my motivation to keep vaping plus the money which is gradually building up over the weeks. I will get there - just not as quick as what I had hoped for that's all.
Graham

Graham, I echo all what has already been said, 3 ciggies a day is nothing really. For when you're working, and you just need a very quick hit, it may be worth trying some stronger liquid? Well done on all the money saved, I hope you are planning to spend it on a treat for both of you

I still occasionally think "I would love a proper ciggie". But almost straight away I forget and enjoy a vape. That might be due to my age and alzeimers but I enjoy a vape much more than I ever enjoyed a smoke. Stick to what suits you best and you`ll get there mate.

We had a week in Madeira in August and as we loved it so much I booked the same hotel for next August but for two weeks this time instead of one. So there really is motivation there and I have no intention of breaking it. It will be a fabulous holiday. Graham

Graham I really admire you. Not just for avoiding so many cigarettes but also for being honest that it's not always as easy as some of us find it to quit them completely overnight. I'm sure many newbies and lurkers feeling bad about having an analogue will take heart from your experience and keep vaping.
#icon_thumbsup# #icon_thumbsup# to you, sir!
