Seeing the text on Jem's business card got me thinking, very nice btw It's said that E-cigs are exempt from the smoking ban because they are not a tobacco product. Some E-juices are made from steeped tobacco leaves, aren't they tobacco products? I know that we also say it's exempt as nothing is lit or burned etc. I suppose I was wondering wether juices made with steeped tobacco are tobacco products, thinking about possible changes to legislation next year etc....

Ellen the smoking ban specifically relates to lit products, so whatever juice is made from it is exempt, but here's hoping any new legislation doesn't change that

Its all down to how the powers that be classify nicotine juice. I think Im right in saying that the FDA classify it as a tobacco product, whilst this side of the pond its kinda in limbo.

Thanks to you both,
I know that legislation is all about the exact letter of the law and wondered if we may encounter hiccups when it came to certain juices that do actually contain tobacco and whether the "not a tobacco product" statement may be argued against by the powers that be

All e-liquids are a product of tobacco if they contain nicotine (as atm it is extracted from tobacco). The Health Act of 2006 does go on about tobacco a lot, but the main distinction is 'LIT' - you can still use snuff/pigtail etc in public places as it is not 'LIT' tobacco. After all anything that is lit will burn and produce smoke - this includes BBQs. Do they fall under the 'smoking ban'? It all comes back to the same thing - misinformation and political manipulation. It is nowt to do about science or health, it is about control Russell PS I seem to be turning into Trog
