Hi. Bumped into another "e-cig" vaper-er tonight.

He had a Innokin (?) kit, and seemed to be doing well.

We got chatting (and I got ranting) about some of the products on the market....and some of the frankly unacceptable claims on some e-cig sites.

I wasted money on cheap kit before going for 2 mid-range kits.

What I don't understand is some of the following.

5 carts £15 from one retailer?

5 carts = 175 cigarettes?

w.t.h?

My carts hold 1.5ml liquid max. At 24mg that's 36mg (before taking into account vaping "conversion") so a 1PAD smoker would need to be vaping *at least* one cart a day. OK, so on paper that sounds about right 1 cart = 25 cigs, but in reality surely a vaping convert is going to get through way more than one cart.
What then? fit another new cart (£3 from the most expensive retailers) or fill with juice at a cost of 60p or something.

Are people really spending £3 per cart without checking for price comparison?

Why are some sites "claiming" such nonsense?

How can 1.5ml of 12mg liquid = 20-25 cigarettes. Even absorbing 100% of the nicotine in a cart is only 18mg..... and some people talk about 50% max.....that's 9 mg!

No wonder some people are failing to stop the analogues.

an average cigarette yields about 1 mg of absorbed nicotine

So, if you are smoking 9 cigs a day, then some of this cheap rubbish might do it for you. otherwise....forget it.

Lol I started on non cheap crapish it was a smokers halo cig a like and at 1st I though it was great but was going thru cartos at a rate of knots and still smoking! I googled how to re fill cartos as I'd heard you could and ended up here. Got onto a group buy from health cabin and got a few cheap juices and started vaping again but yet again failed to cut my cigs down. Now thanks to this forum and it's members I have an ego with several visions and cartos and juice coming out of my ears!

Listen, everybody's got to start some where, and nowaday's at least the cheap or not so cheap stuff works, and get's you off the cig's, then you learn as you seem to have that there is bigger and better, and maybe cheaper as well, so i'm not having a dig but, bloody hell nobody makes anybody buy anything, apart from perp's that is

Not every vaper wants to refill. just because it makes sense to us, many vapers are just pleased to be off the ciggies but like the cig-a-like form and pre filled cartos.

whatever helps people get off the ciggies, or cut down, is a major step forward

I, like most folks around here, started out with a discounted Skycig Kit and I was on it for a month before chucking the fags altogether and was on Skycigs only.
That was from a 40 superking a day habit. Okay, by the end of that month I was refilling the carts with e-juice, but, with lack of any other info, I was doing okay. I continued on the Skycigs for another couple of weeks.
It was quite by accident that I learned there was other, better, e-cigs on the market and I stumbled on Vape Escape and Jason who sorted me out with a proper kit and juices.

Until such times as e-cigs, cheap and more expensive, are openly sold in large retail shops, then the information about them, what is available and what would be best for individuals will remain a secret to most smokers.

Most of the folks who ask me where I got my e-cig from, switch off as soon as I say, "On the Internet".
It is almost as if, if it is only available on the Internet and not in the shops, then it must be dodgy!

Yes it is a jungle out there and it will remain a jungle until such times as proper e-cigs and their e-juices are freely available at source. IE, where folks shop at the moment for their fags and tobacco.

It is a jungle but a small one really,lets say you want to buy a laptop a PC a TV etc etc,you want to fix your car,I could go on,but if you have the internet in front of you and you dont bother using it,finding the best deals,reading the forums you are going to either get ripped off or strike lucky.......going off onto one now,I havejust lost most the teeth on my right hand side of my mouth,I dont want dentures,I want implants,my quote for top and bottom,4 implants,one bridged....10 grand,now bet I am doing some reading now

Funny you mention teeth Alan, I'm doing the same thing. Been quoted almost 3 grand for 2 implants on internet site. my dentist says at least 4 grand. Not getting on at all with the partial denture. I'm sure there must be somewhere even cheaper.

Thats a jungle bud,average is 2 grand an implant,I know of one person that went to Thailand and had a lot of work done a lot cheaper,but with implants there's lots of aftercare and if you go wrong you could cost yourself a lot more,I myself will take the cheapest denture till I find what I am looking for

A complete digression from me, with apologies to Djs . . . skeleton dentures are worth investigating, suitability depends upon the health of your remaining teeth/gums.

Speaking as someone who has had massive dental issues over the years, due to a chronic smoking habit.

Had cig alikes been available, even at over inflated prices, I'd probably have paid the price . . . rather than paying the price of major dental work that I have done over the decades.

Yes, for sure. £3 carts are fine if they work and provide the necessary. I don't have a worry with anybody buying them, just the "expectation" presented by certain online retailers. (Not the independent vaping e-shops, of course..)

I'm glad you posted this as I was beginning to think nobody was kicking the fags using certain products.

I tried and failed with e-lites. I'm not really fussed about the money, but if I'd stuck with them and believed the general claims out there, I think I'd still be getting nowhere.

My dad got his implants done in spain and I think it was quite reasonable.

I also gave up using look-a-likes, VIP in my case and I only got them to see what they were like and decided it wold work for me. I only started moving up after I bought an e pipe and got liquid to refill the cartridges, the pipe packed in so I bought a 901 to use the liquid then bought an ego system. Dave

The over exaggerated claims about how many ciggies a cartomiser is equivalent to, is one of my biggest pet hates > I think e-lites are the worst with stating their "tips" (cartomisers) equal 40 cigarettes & charge £7.99 for 2

I do wonder though if vaping regulation does become reality weather the tobacco industry will use it's muscle to ensure that what is available always falls just short of being a real alternative to smoking their tobacco products
