A search of the internet into the subject of extracting nicotine from tobacco leaf/cigarettes/cigars or pipe tobacco will show you that the extraction of nicotine is similar to the extraction methods discussed here for taste. One thing that bothers me about using actual tobacco, be that leaf or shop bought tobacco, is that in making an extract for the taste, you will also be extracting the nicotine content of that tobacco. Then, adding the extract to your e-juice will add to the MG level of your e-juice. As we ourselves have no way of measuring just what the level of the nicotine is in our e-juice other than what is printed on the bottle, nor can we measure what the nicotine level of our tobacco extract is, I think I would be very wary of adding anything to my juices that may take me into the realms of an unkown nicotine level. This has already been covered in another thread lobey, but to save you searching the reply to the same question of extracting the nicotine content was:- “No, it just extracts the flavour... (if any nic comes over, it will be very very minimal - not worth mentioning, or thinking about). To extract the Nicotine from tobacco, you would have to use a solvent to break down the plant mater, and then a solvent reactor to remove the solvent used, then high temp or sub zero temp reduction and finally distil the resulting liquid. Trouble is, it's not just the nicotine that a solvent extracts, it is the other nasty’s and potentially cacogenic substances as well... I am sure there are methods posted on the internet, but, IMHO it is outside the realms of what we can safely do / should do at home, and to be honest, I wouldn't feel comfortable advising anyone on the use of solvents. The method I have suggested is a mild process and just extracts the flavour, as in a tincture.”

Extracting the concentrate the way we are doing it ie VG and a small amount of alcoholl the amount of nicotine extracted is minimal you would need to use solvents to extract larger amounts of nicotine and I certainly wont be messing with solvents. Dave
PS You beat me to it Frogster

There are a number of methods quoted on the internet, most for home production and these do not involve solvents, or stills for distillation. Indeed distilled water is the most common liquid used.
Cigarettes, Cigars, Pipe and Chewing tobaccos, tobacco leaf, nic patches, used filter tips etc have all been used to extract nicotine at home using appliances found in your kitchen.
Once we move away from flavours made by reputable and licenced companies and start to produce flavours from other substances, be it for strictly our own use, we have to be aware that there is no "at home method" of measuring the amount of any of the chemicals that may be present in our home brewed concotions.
All I am saying is be wary and be careful.

I like to have clear time as well Dave, if I'm mixing or making the leaf concentrate . . . I so enjoy doing it, so rushing tends to take the pleasure out of the process and leads to mistakes, which I'd rather not make.

Brilliant thanks. I 'll try that next time..I have half a leaf left. Is this meant to be used neat or is it a flavour to be added? Nice idea using muslin like a tea bag to extract flavour..Less colloids that way. This thing I make is a coil gunker. Got to clean the coils every day. Thank fully the wicks are stainless and I can clean them.. Thanks you too Firinblanks..

Use it as you would a flavour concentrate Macca, so that'll depend upon your taste buds, as to how much you use with your nic.
I'm using it neat virtually with a dash of nic, my friends I mix at 30% concentration.
Will you have enough with one leaf? About 5grams of leaf at a time I've been using . . . makes about 50ml of concentate, following Frogs destructions.

That's ok then, didn't want you going through the process if you didn't have enough. The Vodka does all evaporate off with the heat . . . it does help extract the flavour, is there something else you could use in it's place I wonder?

I have done three batches of just steeping the part of the whole leaf in 24mg pre mixed nic base..It takes about 10 days and some filtering through 400 mesh but it's ok. The last time I forgot and left it for 20 days and though the flavor did not improve it gave me a mix that looked deadly and the colour of coffee dicoction.. Still a very good vape though. Reminds me of bidi's we used to smoke when we were short of cash in my mis-spent youth but much milder and nicer and a very refreshing flavour. www.littleabout.com/Health/smoking-beedi-more-harmful-than-cigarettes/138/Those were foul.
