My wife is an HR manager so I'm fully aware of what they can and can't do.
I'll just play by the rules and not vape in work, it's just a shame that the company doesn't recognise that I've made a healthier choice.

Although I have no issue with anyone on here using the term, I don't care for the term 'stinkies' either, never use it myself, it just sounds childish to me, and a friend of mine who is forever trying to give up the cigs always uses this term during their 'i've given up' periods before taking up smoking again and it really annoys me. As for the term I do tend to use 'cigs/ciggys' this is a term I took up as a teenager (yes, I know I shouldn't have been smoking then) when I lived on an American Air Base where my Dad was stationed and the very British term 'fags' means something very different to the Yanks, so the alternative was always used! lol As for vaping in the work place, one of my Directors (a very heavy smoking Italian who smokes in the office in Italy) has just taken up vaping in a bid to cut down, so i'd like to see them try to say i'm not allowed to. Edited for lots of typos.

A mate of mine works at a place where they bought all the smokers Liberro kits to encourage them to give up smoking, and they're more than happy for them to vape at their desks all day. I'm not entirely sure what the policy is at our place as I only have a few puffs in the toilet when nobody's about, although I was showing it to our head of dept last week in the office and he encouraged me to take a puff to see how much vapour it produced.

On my first week vaping, I was standing in the middle of the car park at work when one of the union rep's comes up and asks "what you doing" I'm standing in no mans land, "no need we've already spoken to management about those things and you can go where you like inside or out" For months now I always go to the smoke shelter to vape "just for the banter" The boogers have even tried to ban me from vaping in the smoking area failing that they reckon I should be wearing fog lights "health and safety" seems I'm not clearly visible, even with a hi-vis jacket on

I've not really used the term stinkies but I have used the term nasties occasionally I mostly use cig/ciggie/cigarette. Sorry if I've caused any offence to anyone using that term.

I have used the term stinkies. I find it funny and cute. But I know where you're coming from, Ewol. Self-righteous ex-smokers and non-smokers can be annoying. Even when I've gone cold turkey in the past I've still considered smokers to be my brethren, of a sort, and non-smokers to be the enemy (in a small way). And I hated the non-smoking ban, even when I was quitting myself and it became useful. Kind of with Bill Hicks on this:
“The worst kind of non-smokers are the ones that come up to you and cough. That's pretty ******* cruel isn't it? Do you go up to cripples and dance too?”
"You ready for this, smokers? Listen to this: how many non-smokers do we have here tonight? [loud applause] Bunch of whinin' maggots. [lights cigarette] Bunch of obnoxious, self-righteous slugs. Don't take that wrong. I'd quit smoking if I didn't think I'd become one of you."
Haha. Maybe he takes it a bit too far.

As far as I know the term is used to describe cigarettes not the people who smoke them, and no one can deny that they do smell bad. Even as a 35-40 a dayer I hated the smell of them. Pam Well put Pam

It's strange, when I first stated there was nothing on our intranet (where we keep the current policies) about e-cigs. Then within two months of me vaping in the office, an email comes out banning vaping. I work for a company that employs 12,000 people and still (after the email) the intranet site doesn't refer to e-cigs in any way. I've heard of other sites where people have used e-cigs only to have an email come out banning them shortly after. My theory is the company are banning them in sites if they receive complaints. Annoying though this is it kind of explains why there isn't an official announcement company wide. It's also annoying as it covers use within company cars Mind you, proving that someone's been vaping in a car/van would take the entire cast of CSI A guy here in Glasgow tried to take his employer on because he vaped and was told to go out side with the smokers, his claim was he is more a productive worker then his colleagues because he did not take fag breaks the up shot was go out side or lose your job.

Do cigarettes stink or just have a different smell? People are more offended upset over someone smoking than someone who evades taxes, beats his wife, can't be arsed to get a job, drink driving, ect, ect and it's not funny, peer pressure forces some people to comit suicide, I've seen it happen and it's not great when it does.

They stink, smell bad, have an unpleasant odour. I don't think I have ever encountered anyone who thought that the smell of tobacco on someones clothes or breath was pleasant.
The health risks of passive smoking have been made so much of in recent years that non-smokers feel that they have the right to challenge anyone polluting the air they breathe with carcinogenic substances and it is not a battle smokers are ever going to win. If the peer pressure you speak of is smokers feeling got at by anti smokers then it's only going to get worse, as stupidly PC as the UK has got over the past few years smokers will never be able to pull the discrimination card.

Unlit tobacco smells divine though. Surely I'm not the only person who believes so.
