I guess it's an age thing but various bits of me are falling apart. Today it's my face! I have had an odd rash on my nose for the last couple of days and felt a zit hatching on my cheek. Woke up this morning with what I imagine is a 'cold sore' on my lip. Owie! (never had one before in my life, cold sore that is. I've always had lips) As the day has progressed, my face and lips have become more and more tender, itchy and painful. I braved the world to go to ask the advice of my local pharmacist. He looked at my face and stepped back in horror! Told me to go and see my doctor as soon as possible... I wouldn't mind the swelling if it had at least reduced my wrinkles temporarily. Anyone have a balaclava that they aren't using? Lynda

Could you be a little run down Lyn? There are good vitamin tonics out there. Metatone & Sanatogen do one. Hopefully, you haven't got chicken pox or similar Have you been using new products ie washing stuff ect? Could even be an allergic reaction to something.

(((Lynda))) I'm thinking the same as Hissie - an allergic reaction to something?

Poor {{{Lynda}}} I have a resident herpes under one side of my lip, it flares up only rarely but threatens to quite often. But yours sounds so acute, as if it were a bite or sting that you've had a reaction to It's quite chilly so you won't look strange if you wrap a scarf around your face I do hope you get sorted at the docs, but if you can't get there you can buy over-the-counter anti-histamines that could tide you over until you do, tabs and/or cream. Bicarb is a home remedy for the irritation, and olive oil ??? might help a little, and something icy should relieve pain. Just found cooked oatmeal as a "cure" scylla x

(((( Lynda )))) It does sound awfully like an allergic reaction to something. Lemon Balm is thought to be quite effective in treating herpes virus, amongst other things . . . . www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/lemon-balm-000261.htmIf your immune system is a bit low Echinacea /Goldenseal & Manuka Honey could help boost that along with a good Vit C supplement. Failing all that I do have a knitting pattern for a balaclava . . . . .

I love you guys. Can't imagine what I might be allergic to. I haven't come into contact with anything new in the last few days... I'll go to my GP's walk-in clinic in the morning. Sadly, whatever is wrong with me hasn't made me lose my appetite!!

And we love you Lynda Really hope your GP's walk-in clinic can help - as long as the side effects of anything they give you doesn't effect your lovely sense of humour

We forgot Tea Tree, Perpy! That's one thing I always have to hand for when I feel the herpes itch just beginning and I do think it helps. I've got the Australian Bodycare roller-ball and a cheap cream I got from eBay. Having said that, I was treating a heat rash for many months with something I bought from the chemist, it only just kept it at bay - no, that's not true really, my skin was breaking down - but when I, at last, got a prescription from the doc it cleared up in no time. Good luck, Lynda scylla

Well, I'm back from the doctor's with penicillin and a tentative diagnosis of a 'strep' infection that has cause cellulitis. My face swelled dramatically during the night and one side of it looks like hamster's full pouch. No wrinkles on that side this morning! Hope the pills work soon; going out in public is embarrassing....
Thanks for all the good thoughts.
Lynda
