Just wondering, out of curiosity more than anything: is there anyone out there who sees vaping as a step on the road to giving up ingesting nicotine altogether, or do you feel that by giving up actual cigarettes you've gone as far as you're prepared to go?
As I've said before, I accidentally started with very low nic juices, and so I've never actually tried vaping anything remotely strong. This, from a pack-a-day-plus smoking habit of light cigarettes.
I'm now wondering whether I couldn't eventually simply stop altogether. It's not something I'm in a rush to do, but it would be nice to think that eventually I could just keep my kit in my bag ready for that moment when I'm gripped by an urge to smoke (or vape) but not do it as a matter of habit. I've really noticed lately that whereas before I'd plan a smoke break into the most mundane task, I now just get on with what I'm doing and don't have to stop every 20 minutes or so.
I can understand, appreciate and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from vaping, and - who knows - I might find I can just carry on vaping quite happily, even if it's on zero nicotine juices. I don't know, though, if I'm really happy with swapping one habit for another, even if it's a much healthier one.
It's very early days for me, but I just wondered how many people started on this adventure with the firm intention of giving up altogether, and whether you've changed your plans?

If you can go from this to quitting all together then good luck to you Personally, I was never going to stop smoking so this vaping malarky is the perfect substitute for cigarettes for me. I have no intention to do anything else other than lower my nic content over time

My wife plans on quiting, I plan on lowering the strengths until I'm vaping on 0mg nic and just keep at it as I really enjoy it.

Hi kickit, I started this journey nearly 4 months ago, with no intention of giving up completely. Just thought I'd try it as I was smoking more and could do with saving the cash! Since then I've had no desire for a conventional fag, saved a boatload of money and not at all bothered whether I carry on vaping or even give that up. The main thing to me is that I've given up all those chemicals and other nasties that come with 'smoking'. Yes, it can become another 'addiction' but, at least, it's healthier and less expensive (some might disagree ) Just don't put pressure on yourself

My initial reason for vaping was as a healthier alternative to smoking, I had no idea at the time that nic juices could be purchased at various strengths. I started out on 24mg and dropped to 18mg within a few weeks which was a bit too much too soon but I made it through ok. My plan is to slowly reduce my nicotine intake painlessly with a view to eventually going nic free.

I'm planning to quit vaping. Sure. For starters, I've ditched all my 24mg juices and am actively counting my "vape-sessions" per day. It may work, it may not. Win-win.

no intention of giving up vaping i liked smoking and only gave that up due to the potential damage to my health, the cost and the smell. All of these issues have been reduced/eliminated by vaping ...plus i now have a hobby and found a wonderful group of friends win win win for me

Thanks for that, it's an interesting set of responses already. In one way, I guess I've already come a very, very long way. You see, I spent 8 years working for "big tobacco". That's eight years of free cigarettes. It was a while ago, but firmly cemented an existing habit into a way of life. Like I said, I can see what a great community the vaping community is, and I've no urgent plans to leave it, but... Doris Day hit it on the head. Que sera, sera.

I saw it as a halfway house to quitting altogether when I began, knowing absolutely nothing about it. I always enjoyed smoking and spending less money was the driving force, rather than the health issues, but thankfully there are health benefits as the spending less money side of it flew out of the window as soon as I joined this forum. I like to think I've been investing, rather than just burning stuff away, and while I've not yet bought anything that's built to last 'for life', I'll have a good six to twelve months out of what I currently have, although I will buy more stuff as I have no willpower, which brings me full circle really. I currently have no plans to stop vaping, as I have to say I bloody love it.

I had a hospitalisation scare which encouraged me to quit, however I tried the cigalikes and hated them so went back onto the ciggies (stinkies ewol ) and had decided that I was going to die a smoker and relatively soon according to the drs. Purely by chance I stumbled across a small vape stall in Merthyr Tydfil market (I missed it but my wonderful Mrs pointed it out) Went in and they let me try a few... It was one of the most amazing things that has ever happened to me because once I had tasted how wonderful these vaping kits are I stopped my 35 rollie a day habbit that I had had for 33 years instantly... even the fag on the way home from the shop was discarded and used the ego-t all the way home. I have no intention of stopping vaping I am quite happy and hopeful that I have sneakily added a few month/years back to my life and I already feel healthier. Incidentally I have already been the inspiration for 2 more people to quit fags and start vaping... so it's not just me getting healthier But if you think you need to stop vaping then more power to you and I wish you the very best of luck.

I started on 18mg. It works. I don't plan to change. I don't plan to cut down. I spoke to my doctor today and he's extremely happy with my alternative to smoking. I have all I need. I don't see why I should bother changing when I'm happy with what I've got. I understand we all have different goals. Quitting Nicotine wasn't mines. For lack of a better word, smoking without the incredibly high health risks was mines. I achieved it. Vaping.

For the moment I just want to make sure smoking is ancient history.
One day (probably after 6 or 12 months vaping) I'll try to cut down - maybe lower nic, maybe zero nic in the mornings, whatever - but to be honest I don't expect it to work, because I don't care enough. I'll keep trying from time to time though.
