I got a cheap chef torch from ebay and is stopped working the next day.
So I guess it is better to pay a little extra and invest in something solid

That's cheap macca!
I'm struggling still to oxidise mesh, watching Roger do it on a gas stove, then me repeating exactly the same with a blowtorch, didn't seem to work.
I presume there is no difference between the two when oxidising mesh?

I've got a good gas blowtorch but prefer to do mine on the gas hob.

I presume there is no difference between the two when oxidising mesh? There should not be..It's possible you are winding the coils too tight.. Try the rizla paper trick if you wind your coil around the wick or the PetarK/Grizewald method of using a drill bit and sliding your wick in..

Macca, I'm not ignoring you when you give your advice, but I seem to have tried it all and none of it works. I have been using the drill bit method. I suspect I have been stripping the coating off the mesh while sliding the wick into the coil. I also suspect I'm about a gnats hair away from giving up on ecigs completely. My phoenix which was great, lasted about 7 hours, the genesis that Roger set up lasted less than that, vivi's last less than everyone else seem to find (alot less), cartomisers lasted even less, don't even get me started on atty's. The taste is there...... then it's gone. I LOVE vaping, but the days I can enjoy it without any problems seem fewer and fewer.

Do you vape a single flavour?
What do you mean when you say a genesis lasted 7 hours?

(((( Womble )))) I couldn't survive on vaping just a single flavour, my taste buds would get too tuned in, I'd taste nothing and get bored . . . I'm almost ashamed to admit, that I currently have 9 devices on the go, all with different flavours. All of which I find very weird, as I'd happily chug on any cigarette that was the cheapest I could buy, without a single thought to the flavour of them. ??? As Macca says, do you vape a single flavour or a variety?

They can be a bugger Womble,I have found its usually not the oxidizing that's at fault, but the coil being to tight or to loose, when you have a wick made, play about with it till you can push it down the coil and pull it out again with very slight resistance, then give it another couple of burns with some juice just incase you have scrapped some off,if you get a top hot spot check the tension of the coil at the top were it goes to the post, this is were you are often yanking it to tight or leaving it to loose,I did one I got right near straight away the second drove me nuts... persistence is the key
