I have some developments on the button front that may suit all you pointy button haters! Basically, a sneaky little tactile switch that is very satisfying to use but requires a little more electrical witch-craft. Will up-date when I have more info... Sean

Oooooo, sounds fascinating Sean . . . . it's very good of you to go to this trouble for those of us with button 'issues'.

TBH, it's more for my own satisfaction... Fiona would tell you I never do anything by half and like to find the best solutions I can. It may not come off if the electrical wizardry makes it cost prohibitive but I have one of the tactile switches here and it has a really nice feel to it. Sean

OOOoooooo! More research... and the possibility of no 'button' switch at all - just a couple of touch sensors! How does that sound to everyone? Only question is: can I make them small enough to fit into a single channel in an AA battery box?! Sean

How would touch sensors cope with being in a pocket, Sean?

The box would still have a kill switch so as long as you turn it off... no problem! Sean

Would you have a colour-patch or some other indication of where the sensor is located? Love your censorship-avoidance-technique, Lisa scylla

No colour patch, you'd be able to see the sensor/s but they would be more or less flush to the body but no need to actually press the button, just touch it or them. (if there's one or two). Sean

My friendly electrical wizard is now working on two or three different switch ideas for me... 1. Straight forward button switch but without the restrictions of Ampage loads... 2. Single Touch Sensor... as it says! 3. Twin Touch Sensor... where you bridge the gap with your finger to complete the circuit and switch it on! All should still have the kill switch (or something to make the device pocket safe!) Sean
