Seems there is a bit of an age difference / conflict here , my daughter is now an adult and vapes , 15 + years ago I think most smokers (including myself) where a lot more blase about leaving cigs lighter etc , on the coffee table , sideboard , wherever without thinking there was much of a consequence about whether your child would pick it up / whether it was dangerous to them etc ..... Although we knew the consequences of smoking and ill health it just didn't seem to be an issue ............ Fast forward to today ..... some with younger children are / can be more aware of the dangers of both smoking and now obviousley vaping / and associated paraphernalia , rather than punish the sprogs for getting hold of your vaping gear ( your fault ) , better to educate and enlighten them Edit : Just to add I think this is a great topic for all of us to learn and possibly educate ourselves as well as our children

I was never blase about my children getting hold of my lighter when young. Once they got a bit older they had respect for my stuff and knew what they shouldn't be touching

My kids are terrified of vaping, Ejuice and any paraphernalia. I told them it's poisonous and especially dangerous to children, that it would kill them if they touched it, and now they wont go near the stuff. They are only 8 and 9. I have told mine exactly the same. I always try and tidy up any stuff left around, but am probably a little lacklustre sometimes with this. Wake up call for me, to make sure all my stuff is completely out of reach.

You never asked your kids to pass you your lighter and fag packet Karma ....... ? Sorry to keep quoting you storm, lol. But... There's a vast difference between passing you something and in effect stealing it. At work for example, im forever swapping money around from one till to another for change etc, but the bosses would take a dim view if I actually shoved it in my pocket instead!

You never asked your kids to pass you your lighter and fag packet Karma ....... ? I remember being sent to the shops at 7 or 8 years old to buy fags for my mum, I would also get them for her if they were in another room, they were left lying around all the time which came in handy for nicking one or two from the box when I got to 12 or 13. My mum smoked while carrying all of us kids and there are photos of her holding us as babes in arms with a fag in her mouth. Out of the four of us only one of my brothers never took up smoking in fact he hated cig smoke right from the time he was a baby and would kick up murder and scream if anyone smoked near him. My other brother has smoked from a very young age and thinks nothing of smoking round his kids even as babies.

Perhaps it was a poor example, apologies.
What im trying to say in a weird roundabout way is that most children know that you simply asking them to pass you something does not make it acceptable for them to take it when they feel like it and use it without your say so.

It's great this has been raised I keep all my juice out of the way and never call it juice in front of my kids my 7 year old always asks me what flavour I am vaping but interest ends there ! I have scared the shit out of them with the poisonous to kids thing, but there will always be that chance that they might have a try, if they do I hope they inhale because that would stop them doing it again until they are older I know it did me when I tried my dads cig when I was 6 !!!!

My apologies also boo , I am trying to play the devils advocate in this thread ...... simply we are not all as innocent as we would like ourselves to believe we are , when it comes to exposing our children to either tobacco products or our vaping gear .... as per the OP it needs to be highlighted so we can all think a little

No true Storm, and no need for you apologise at all- you weren't offensive nor was I offended x I still get knots of guilt when I think about the fact I smoked throughout both of my pregnancies and through both my girl's childhoods. So I'm far from perfect
