Vendors threads

Hi All

I'am wondering if its not a bit confusing especially for newbies to go to the Vendors/sellers section and find that all of the vendors have threads titled with the offer that started that thread,which is long gone,would it not be better to re-title all their original threads with something like... vendor???-sales and offers.

Hope you understand what I'am talking about

Hey Alan, each time I update I change the original title and at the beginning of first thread I advise to look at last one to see latest update. That's the only way I saw to get around it. I agree a bit but if I kept starting a thread every time I had a snippet and so did every other vendor the place might be a lot more muddled?

Agreed Alan, good idea - all it needs is for each vendor thread to start with their name, and for the title to be updated as Pinky suggests above so

Vapemystuff - new liquids added
becomes
Vapemystuff - special discount code (etc)

Yes well done Pink,you and some others do that,but some just keep posting on an old title,which gets confusing unless your using that section every day

Perhaps it may be agood idea to change your title to "Oi, Vendors, over here....a helpful suggestion for you"

The trouble is, some of the vendors aren't even sticking to the 2 thread rule - even though they were all PM'd about it when the rule came in. And many haven't read the updated pinned thread stating that Gordy is the moderator to contact for moving/merging vendors threads.

Fairly certain a heck of a lot of the vendors haven't bothered to read the thread i keep bumping asking them to post their Christmas opening/posting times in the pinned thread.

Simple solution Chrissie - if a vendor ignores the rules and a follow-up PM, delete their threads. It is free marketing for them after all, and being hit in the wallet is usually a good wake-up call.
As always, the minority can spoil things for the majority of law-abiding citizens

As i see it, you can't set rules for some people and punish them for not abiding them, but then allowing others (vendors) to flout their rules with no consequences.

I meant to ask this the other day, do vendors pay to advertise here, or is it free?

I should think the discount codes are the venders way of paying

Vendors don't pay to advertise on the forum Dolly . . . personally, I'd be wary of introducing too overly draconian measures, as much as we'd like Vendors to play exactly by our rules all the time, they do lead busy lives if they run a successful online business.

I'd imagine that if they are conscientious in their work and a one person business especially, just keeping on top of orders and assisting their customers, takes up much of their time.

And, they might have families who would like to see them, without a monitor in front of them . . . .

Good point Ron. Just didn't know whether they did or not.

I was just responding to Chrissies post Perp. I should have quoted it. I don't feel that vendors doing the things Chrissie mentioned would take up much of their time at all.

I agree Dolly that it is something we need to start to be stricter about. Especially as the new rule has been in place for a while now. I think one of the problems is that the vendors post on several forums & may not remember the different rules for each forum or how many threads they have going.

oops forgot the last orders for xmas piece - I saw it and then I dashed out and it's been on a list of things to do since then. sorry chrissie

Personally as I post on a few forums(three is the max. I can stay on top of and read through each day) I make it my business to abide by their individual rules as they are giving me something that is very valuable aside frm any personal enjoyment I get from using it as a consumer. It doesn't take much time to do and if I didn't have the time to read the forum or stay involved in it then I shouldn't be on it as I'm more likely going to do more harm than good.

(Sadly my site is not set up for discount codes which won't come for some time but I try to make it up with little extra gifts to aaec members and trying to keep a fair price always...)

Many moons ago I had my own business. Totally different to this sort of thing. It was in the service industry and we were open for business 24hrs a day. Doesn't matter how many hours there are in a day. You run it properly and in a professional manner because ultimately your public and potential customers are watching. Of course no one gets it right 100% but you aim for it. It really is NOT hard work to comply to the rules of a place bringing you a good percentage of your income. In fact, I would consider it a priority.
Anyway, i am waffling on.... again
